New York “charities” are funding Israeli settler organizations that ethnically cleanse Palestinians from their homes. Our state is complicit. But the tide is turning. Last month, 26 supporters of the Not On Our Dime! Act won their primaries. We have an obligation to pass this bill next session.

Update on this because it's been a whirlwind since: our Democratic Socialist campaign won even though between the candidate and the PACs they spent $1m trying to beat us.

It's because they know we're going to tax the rich! Prangy? Angroud?
Kinda hilarious that Trump wanted to argue about authorial intent on birthright citizenship and the dissent, all supposedly strict constructionalists, were like, "yeah we need to look past the four corners of the Constitution."

Liberal Catholics agree that the Pope isn't the be-all, end-all for morality. What they didn't do is claim they could speak for Catholicism more than the Pope - they just either lapsed, or left. Been told I'm a "cafeteria Catholic" my whole life, and now the shoe is on the other foot.
John@johnlk.bsky.social · 4mo agoI feel like liberal Catholics have had language for a long time that lets them disagree with the Pope without sounding like morons and conservative Catholics are like those big Galapagos flightless birds and never developed this ability.
Immediacy is the reason. If you protest and protest and protest, and nothing changes (and in fact, retribution is enacted on you), you burn out. Simple as. That's the grinding down of authoritarianism. We put 1m in the streets protesting Iraq - but years later, Abu Ghraib? Everyone was tired.
