Contented cultivator of the blossoming local. I am what I eat. I am the change I want to see.
When do you reckon we might face up to this one, my respected Aussie farming mates? I've been banging on for years about how "free market capitalism" is a kill box for any moral or ethical values that get in the way of profit maximisation. When are you going to grow a spine?
Its human exploitation Its very American- build wealth by trampling human rights Not a national character I want to emukate www.abc.net.au/news/2026-08...
This, by @hannahferguson.bsky.social. Read it. Share it. It's important! "Australians feel betrayed by a party who claim to fight for the average punter, and a leader who refuses to do more than the bare minimum to improve our standing." www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

I refuse to allow a cynical outlook of politics to infect our country, which is why I’m standing as an independent in Anthony Albanese’s seat of Grayndler

How many times does this need to be said?? It's why I don't think there is a theory of change that involves anything less than widescale societal collapse.
The risks to earth systems are too great for markets alone to address. Political and governance interventions must be prioritized over economic logics.

Hey kids, GRAND new job opportunities‼️ The public subsidy-reliant CCS industry's teamed up with the @albomp.bsky.social Labor gov to make transboundary carbon dumping rules like the Sea Dumping Bill so 🇦🇺 can be a quarry as well as a CO2 waste dump🎊 They just need MORE public $$ to make it work 1/
Socialism is what they called public power. Socialism is what they called social security. Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations. Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people. —Harry Truman, 1952
Does any Aussie support this nonsense?? If for what ever delusional reasoning some part of our citizenry actually does support fracking in the Kimberley surely 100% of even those people would prefer a legit, professional mob to do the work, yes? Zero political leverage... 100% state capture.
DON'T LET TEXAN FRACKERS BLACK MOUNTAIN ENERGY FRACK THE KIMBERLEY‼️ Send your submission opposing this reckless vandalism in a time of climate emergency👇👇👇 🙏Environs Kimberley
Completely agree. But it does beg the question of why not also "return to what matters most" for: - healthcare - food, farming - power and water - media, law - government.... These are all fully distorted by capital. It's like we've given up having other ideas about how to organise a society, no?
University administration needs to be returned to a focus on what matters most, teaching, research and serving Australian society, not corporate greed and profits and the myopic, meaningless pursuit of deeply flawed rankings. www.crikey.com.au/2026/07/14/u...
The ever-excited Punters Politics laying out the state capture horror show ahead of big tech's acquisition of Australia.

Meanwhile the @australianlabor.bsky.social @albomp.bsky.social govt with a 94 seat super-majority has 👎 approved 34 new/extension Coal & Gas projects 👎 >40 Coal projects in the pipeline ~80% of Australia’s contribution to global C emissions is embodied in fossil fuel exports (read Tim Baxter👇)
What’s Albo got to lose standing up to the gambling lobby? The opposition is in a shambles. Poorlean is being found out. The majority of the Australian public would support it. Grow a pair Albo. Do it. #Auspol.
I guess "now is not the time" to confront the fact of State Capture?
Professors Melissa Haswell & Kerrie Mengersen examine the concerns with "hot venting" of toxic gases from Santos's LNG plant in Darwin
Kind of beyond parody, no?
People in NSW are being told that the government's promise to create the Great Koala National Park can only be kept if it generates carbon credits. Carbon credits that would be used to facilitate fossil fuel expansion! @richarddenniss.bsky.social #auspol
We're going to wake up and take back power pretty soon now, right? Right??
People who can barely afford food or rent are stuck paying a trillionaires bills. Fuck that.
I’ve made a fair few hammers in my day, but all under the conditions of havin a grand ol’ fuckabout with friends. It’s so good to finally make a few Proper hammers under expert guidance that I’m going to actually be excited to use. 💖
Medicare for All - "That's socialism!" Social Security - "That's socialism!" Debt free education - "That's socialism!" Universal childcare - "That's socialism!" $1 trillion in tax cuts for the richest 1%... "That's just how it is."

South Australia hit by a massive, multi-year coastal algae bloom, mediated by global heating and nutrient pollution, yet it *still* doesn't measure and report one of the biggest nutrient inputs to that system, discharge from the Murray River mouth. Simply incredible.
Incredibly, the South Australian Government does not record flow at this location, where Australia's longest and most important river system finally enters the sea ... even though that would be ~trivial to do.
Curious how it is 'nature' that's implied to be at fault in reports of the spread of highly-pathogenic H5 bird flu. Tip: It was us wot made it, via pathogen mutations within the ~35 billion (yes billion) red junglefowl we keep packed in cages around the world; kill and eat millions of every day.
Labor needs to go back to the drawing board. The Greens will do everything in our power to stop this NDIS bill from passing in its current form.
Gina's "Sweet Child o'Mines" from Sammy J's 2013 ABC comedy 'Wednesday Night Fever'. Still freakishly relevant today over a decade later. 🤣 Absolutely brilliant.
Yep, never would have thought that for-profit organisations are focussed primarily on for-profit. Such an awkward way to get anything done... except of course producing profit. Sigh. Capitalism. There must be a more efficient organising principle to achieve collaborative outcomes in society.
