BWorks (@stlbworks.bsky.social) staffer. Former talk show producer. Always an overthinker, clog dancer and lover of Emily Dickinson.

I am here to bike but tonight I am here to watch sailboat races apparently 💙 and have island lobster and sundries. And talk to my lovely waterfront server about Anne of Green Gables. I also drove through the night and just didn't have a big ride in me today low on sleep. Lots of scoping out.

About 100 folks gathered today to calling for Slusser to resign as the leader (chair) of Madison County government. His fellow Republican predecessor and rival Kurt Prenzler rolled down his window at us and said he agreed Slusser was wrong to post that Dr. Fauci should be publicly executed

I'm a proud owner of the War on Cars rain jacket (& a teacher of youth cycling all across the #STL bistate), but I find this kind of tone and post so disheartening, guys. I know it's easier (& gets lots of likes) to endlessly spout the "we need to redesign streets" part of things while shrugging 1/X

Catching 74 distracted drivers in six hours is good, but what would be better is redesigning the street so drivers are forced to pay attention.

On Day 2, our BWorks Earn-A-Bike students practice fixing a flat. Well, today was Day 5, a practice ride before their graduation ride next class for this Alton crew, and guess what? We got some real-life practice (yay glass on park paths? 🫠).

Told one of our (fabulous) BWorks teachers today that if he is going to keep regularly leaving intriguing dad jokes/riddles like this on the bike classroom whiteboard, I am gonna need him to write the answers to the riddles too after the kids guess. What is your guess? :)

... we saw cyclists of all ages and stripes encourage each other, help prepare our bikes for the most successful adventure possible before we headed out, and so much joy and fun and laughter.

We're so proud of the crew of 19 BWorks youth and helpers who pedaled 6.6 miles through beautiful Forest Park together last night! We saw an owl, beautiful fountains and skies, and even some dinosaurs 🙂 But most of all ...
