There's one month left in the DOS jam! Uno, Dos, Tres. 🤔 A perfect time to jump in! itch.io/jam/ms-tres

Can't even describe how much I enjoyed the series 3 introduction of @discussionspoilers.bsky.social ... such a lovely chat! Also filled with 90s nostalgia, which hits due to my age.
Billionaires feeling threatened by free hand made assets...
Last I'll post about this, but Elon Musk disagrees with me. This means I am onto something, and I feel more valid in my opinion than ever.
"Now, AI is trivially doing it" isn't so much burying the lede and more misreporting the facts because the actual case here is "Now, AI is making it impossible for existing communities"
"Historically, decompilation has been a brutally difficult, time consuming task." Now, AI is trivially doing it.
Tower of Gold is coming November 1st! 🎉 It's a massive puzzle/action game with a first-person overworld full of characters and mysteries. I'll release a trailer alongside the game, but here's a small teaser in the meantime! #indiegames #indiedev
A little animation goes a long way to make the character more lively imho. #indiedev #gamedev #playdate #playdatedev
Listening to the Later Alligator episode of @nosmallgames.bsky.social and 1) it's making me appreciate the game more and go back and play it to completion (or at least more) and 2) wow, the podcast is firing on all cylinders from episode 1
If you have ever enjoyed one of the musical tracks from Street Fighter 2, odds are you have this woman, Yoko Shimomura, to thank
Aaron Swartz, coding prodigy and hacktivist who helped develop RSS and was a co-founder of Reddit, died by suicide after facing $1 million in fines and 35 years in prison for felony charges, just for downloading pdfs of research papers with the intention of making them accessible to the public.
Being GenX/Millennial is such a trip. In our lifetimes, we saw people our age getting wild criminal penalties for pirating music and now have to sit and watch as companies gobble up our work with impunity.
Just finished the first Kathy Rain (the Director's Cut to be specific). I definitely thought it was imperfect, but it felt like a rounded, complete work and left an impression. Part of the fun was listening episodes about the game from @discussionspoilers.bsky.social and @cggpodcast.bsky.social !
The creator crossover I didn't know I needed. Of course that's what Tove Jansson's Gollum looks like.
Razing Core for SEGA Master System is now available. The full version and demo are here: badcomputer0.itch.io/razing-core
I sorta get why bigger sites won’t cover things like IF Comp, even if I think they’re dropping the ball on something that’s really interesting, but I do think more adventure game streamers and sites should cover it. It’s the biggest text adventure event of the year! Dozens of games dropping at once!
Thimbleweed Park is pretty neat. I've seen comments how it's comfortingly nostalgic for many; I'm finding it comforting as well: playing it gives a pause for my brain in the evening, and I look forward to the moment during the day. It's also fun to spot familiar names in the phone book!
The DOS game jam has officially started! 😊
Hi! I just launched a new three month DOS jam! Don't have enough free time to contribute to a standard game jam? This one's E X T E N D E D. Please feel free to join in, even (especially!) if you have no experience! It's a very casual vibe, and there are even a few assets to help start you off!
You're a vertical shooter. Translating the entirety of the first Darius collection was a job that took me two days and cost Taito or whoever footed my bill like $500 back in the day. If you wanna save money, just don't hire generalist agencies where like half the fee is pure profit margins lol
Beyond the Pins: The 2nd Frame, a brand new point-and-click adventure for the NES, PC, Mac, and MS-DOS. We have a Kickstarter campaign going to raise money for physical production. Swing on by and grab yourself a digital copy, a NES cartridge, or even a floppy disk! Link below!
If Sony is so confident, why do they have to censor media reporting on their anti-consumer plans? Spoke to the author of this piece and he confirmed that his & at least 2 outlets were blacklisted: highchaosrun.com/202... One of them also spoke out on X: x.com/rishsabarwal/s...

Small Saga is a wonderful game. Still in January 2024 I was quite surprised and absolutely delighted to spot it in the magazine rack in a grocery store. @sketchylogic.bsky.social
I feel uneasy when I find out about an obscure, substantial-seeming DOS title from the 90s I'm not aware of 👀

We are halfway to the end of the game industry hardship bundle - this is when most campaigns to experience a slump - let's try to beat the trend! We've already raised $160k to help out of work game devs - I'd love to double that by campaign's end. Please share widely! itch.io/b/3802/game-...
I'm looking for more work in the upcoming months! Here's a couple games I've worked on but I also provide the following complimentary services: 👑Your teams biggest cheerleader ✨Can work booths 🎤Speaker 💬My job requires a lot of networking -> Found opportunities for my games that way
Somebody asked me on Reddit why people who use AI to generate Recomp projects are currently being rejected from the communities and what they can do to fix this. I might tweak parts of this to be a more general blog post at some point, but this should be of help to anyone in a similar situation.
I've spent the past 8 years writing 777+ articles on everything from big hits to indie gems and untranslated treasures across dozens of formats. Japanese tape-loaded adventures, Taiwanese horror, Korean RPGs, British strategy... I bet I can show you something new! kimimithegameeatingshemonster.com

hey hey! if you'd be interested in having me on your podcast or youtube, etc. drop a message to my manager Katariina at katariina@1358cr.com would love to do a chill talk about my work!
This is really good stuff, from porting challenges to ... actually successfully estimating how long development will take ... !??!? and how high tier Kickstarter rewards (to design a character to be included in game) actually inspired other elements in the game. Cool. And hey the game is great too.
