Reducing car dependency is an anti-poverty initiative and the republicans (and occasional democrats) who insist we can’t afford investments in transit don’t realize how much it hurts to run Americans into the ground with car payments, gas, insurance, maintenance. America’s biggest ponzi scheme imo

“When insurance, gas, repairs and maintenance are included, the total cost of owning a vehicle has risen more than 40% since January 2020.” This is not sustainable.

Today I went on a pilgrimage to the tomb of Taiwanese folk hero Liao Tianding (廖添丁) in Bali. Also drove up into the hills around Guanyinshan to visit the cave where he made his last stand, according to legend anyway. Pretty nice little hike!
