always ask any questions that are to be asked and never answer any

reading Bastion of Blasphemies, the new Pathfinder Adventure Path, and it's really tickling me how much it leans into being a "videogame" with mechanical lore unlocks, collectibles (you have to 100% to get the secret ending!), and loving tributes to vanias and Fromsoft

I've spent the better part of the last 12 years being told that Dark Souls II is this critically flawed, lesser game, only to see it be slowly redeemed. I was right when I reviewed it. I'm right now. For @aftermath.site: fuck the haters, Dark Souls II is (still) good. aftermath.site/dark-souls-i...

They Could Never Make Me Hate Dark Souls II

I have spent over a decade being told that Dark Souls II is bad. But history has vindicated the game, and I never let the haters win.

Hater week isn't over. I got one more in the quiver.

i almost feel bad for ben shapiro, who has been trying to get the other culture war chuds to reverse course on the odyssey & claim it as a conservative movie. "it's about obeying god & honoring traditions!" sorry ben, your pals are fully unable to see past the minorities they do not like, no dice

the work coffee maker used to be a soviet-ass set of burners with collective brewing responsibility and now it's a Big Coffee iPad that needs programming and twice-daily "maintenance"

I have such an expertly curated algorithm that I'm seeing posts from Mexican street food restaurants in the US and this is how they're advertising the game tomorrow night. "Good vibes"

for weeks, I've been replaying pillars of eternity and deadfire, which I've newly decided are among the very best iso rpgs ever made (in front of them: disco, planescape, fallout 1, maybe dragonfall?). the games industry is rotten.

It’s also notable that for all the people who like to claim Douthat is a “reasonable conservative,” his entire oeuvre is like a catalog of the psychosexual neurosis of the Right. This guy can’t write or publish something that doesn’t reveal the whole repressed fucked upedness of that culture.

seeing that CPV goal at the World Cup, I'm struck by how the whole world—and especially its traditional "periphery"—keeps getting better and better at football, just for the love of the game

The funniest thing about this is that Chris Nolan arguably made the most commercially successful right wing art of recent years with the Dark Knight films, and they're currently melting down at him for mildly unracist casting

The problem is that “I am often scared and angry about social change” does not inherently lend itself to interesting art. You can be as technically skilled as the greats, but art with nothing interesting to say is just a commodity.

Matt Walsh post on X: “Imagine if conservatives, rather than pathetically crawling around on the ground to lap up discarded pop culture crumbs, actually went out and advanced their own creative and artistic vision. Imagine if we used an event like this to actually elevate our own artists and make them famous. What a crazy thought.”

"I ask all of you to think of it, graduates and families alike, let yourself dream of a future in which we can harness this amazing new technology to eliminate entry-level jobs entirely. Indeed, that work has already begun, and that future is now." /college kid booing intensifies "Wow okay,"
