I stumbled across John Goodricke’s house today. Having worked out Algol is an eclipsing binary (a century before spectroscopy confirmed it), by 19 he found Delta Cephei also varying, the class of star that helped reveal the universe’s expansion. He became an FRS but sadly died at only 21. #astro
