About the Dashboard What sites are in the program? Participants in WastewaterSCAN are municipal treatment plants in the United States that serve >10,000 people, with some plants serving up to around 4 million people. The goal of analyzing wastewater at this level is to get a picture of infectious disease occurrence at a community population scale. Sampling at this scale covers a population large enough that positive results for a disease won’t be associated with individuals. The US has at least 23 states/territories with COVlD outbreaks. These include much of California, Texas, Alaska, and Hawai’i, as well as the territories of Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Outbreaks are also present in Washington state, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Missouri, Illinois, Michigan, Kentucky, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Virginia, New York, New Jersey, and New Hampshire. There are likely outbreaks in additional states. The summary statistic of 23 only includes counties with observed data, rather than estimated data. Levels in some Texas counties are so high – on par with the national peak of BA.1 Omicron – that it drives up estimates for counties in neighboring states that lack CDC wastewater monitoring systems. Looking closely at the map, notice other instances of Very High counties in one state driving up estimates of an adjacent county in a neighboring state that lacks data. This shows a clear value of the county-level map over the CDC state map.

“On Friday, the US CDC arbitrarily shifted higher COVID levels into lower categories depicted with cooler colors.” So Texas, with 1 in every 20 people currently infected, would have been labeled “Very High” a week ago, but is now erroneously labeled as “High” by the CDC. Dr.Ruth Report 8/23

So, they want to find the ‚right‘ kind of patients to get to their preferred outcome - this is no better than the Goldsmiths ‚recovery study‘ using interviews with recovered people to argue that people CAN do things to recover - both imply that it’s our attitude that keeps us sick… #LongCovid #ME

So will the participants in the McMaster trial have to profess their belief specifically in the LP, as LP practitioners have asked of people seeking to sign up? Or will the participants just have to demonstrate more generally that they are open to some intervention or other? Either way, this requirement for entering the trial creates enormous questions for how any results would be interpreted. In any event, given that unblinded trials with subjective outcomes generate an unknown amount of bias, the study is likely to report marginally or modestly positive findings even in the absence of actual treatment effects.

We have posted this report 48 hours early in light of increased transmission. The US has 15 states/territories with COVlD outbreaks, characterized by one or multiple counties at high to very high levels. The largest waves are in California, Texas, Alaska, Hawai’i, and Guam. Washington, Nevada, Mississippi, Alabama, Kentucky, and Florida are experiencing regional outbreaks. Finally, there are isolated hot spots in north central Utah (Summit/Wasatch), north central Illinois (Boone/DeKalb), central North Carolina (Cabarrus), and northwest Connecticut (Litchfield). There are major reporting irregularities in Texas. Of the 19 sites online this week, 3 (16%) reported with high/very high levels. Of the 20 Texas sites offline this week that have reported data for last week, 18 (90%) report high/very high levels, with 16 (80%) reporting very high levels. The reason why high and very high sites are disproportionately offline this week is unknown. This creates a major discrepancy between the PMC and CDC maps. If carrying forward last week’s data for the offline sites, the CDC would place Texas in their “high” category, with 21 of 39 sites at high/very high levels (54%), and just below the threshhold for “very high” (17/39, 44%). Houston was previously a leader in wastewater monitoring with 8 sites but has not reported any data the past two updates.

The CDC has changed the color coding on its COVID-19 wastewater maps to conceal the virus's prevalence (which is increasing again). Pay attention to the numbers, not the colors.

Immune system may take 18-24 months to recover after a Covid infection. Studies ended before full immune system recovery were known. Only way to tell is to get an immune panel.

Anyone who listened to/read the research of epidemiologists, immunologists and virologists, knows that COVID has been behaving like HIV, an immune system-disrupting virus. This cyclospora parasite is commonly found in poop and people serve food without washing their trifling hands all the time. 1/2
