Person. Parent. Attorney. Pessimist.

Think about the core tenets of American conservatism: a government serving 300 million people and leading the world should be “small” and that we should orient all policy around servicing the rich so that they throw us gruel. It’s fucking stupid and we should say so.

The biggest democratic/liberal mistake of the last 50+ years has been operating like the right has anything to offer America. It was the fundamental problem with Bill Clinton to Obama and everyone in between

Yep. The reality right now is that there aren't *any* actual debates over jurisprudence, interpretation, and so forth, because SCOTUS itself doesn't have any. The majority decides cases solely on personal preference and does not leave behind a consistent rationale for doing so.

“Originalism is an incoherent doctrine. It allows you to prove anything. Thus what it amounts to is a ritual invocation of the Founders, gesturing at this or that piece of text, before delivering whatever conclusion was approved on Fox News the night before.” www.liberalcurrents.com/we-have-no-s...

Here's how we get Medicare for All done: Make Medicare whole (no one can keep all the parts straight!) Include vision, dental, and hearing. Begin extending to more people, starting with children. We arrive at Medicare for All, which means great Medicare for everyone.

"[N]ow that John Gannon has had the experience he intended to come to others, John Gannon feels sorry for himself; now that the supremacist narrative has come for him, he feels betrayed by the narrative. He can’t understand how this country would behave in exactly the way he wanted it to behave."

"The story is about how the Terrible Things, which usually happen to the people who deserve Terrible Things, somehow happened to one of the people who do not deserve Terrible Things, according to one of the sorts of people who get to decide which people deserve what." www.the-reframe.com/this-is-us/

El-Sayed on RFK JR: It goes back to the fact that they appointed a guy who takes his kids swimming in Schitt's Creek. I find it personally offensive that my dude works out in jeans. Either he is not really working out or he just has massive calluses on the inside of his legs. It is not right

Once again, this was how the Economist characterized the American economy on Election Day in 2024. We had a country on the brink of stunning success, but the Republicans knee-capped it with trade wars and real wars of their own choosing.

Mike Johnson: "We reminded voters of the disastrous effects of the years under Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, what we inherited when we took this over last January. We had a country on the brink of ruin." 🙃

it’s wild that the heritage foundation wrote in text that the assault on trans woman particularly in sports is their first step in their efforts to completely abolish all Title IX protections and liberals still don’t believe it’s about more than trans women in sports

I realize that my genetically engineered super wasps may kill all humans. But investors have put a lot of funding into this so we just have to keep increasing their capabilities. Look, if my super wasps don't end civilization, someone else's might, so we need to stay at the forefront of this tech.

"I know they don't support separate drinking fountains in New York and California and other coastal states but if a Democrat needs to back separate but equal facilities in Alabama to win, progressives should just hold their tongues" - how you sound defending Democrats opposing trans equality

If the republicans came out saying some fucking crazy shit like “we need to sacrifice 100 poor people into the giant blender to appease god” democratic leaders would be like “outrageous! 100 is WAY too high a number!”

democrats, literally the only thing you should be talking about for the next 3 days is donald trump lying about being a 9/11 hero. i dont care if the question is about the economy or gas prices or about how sexually attractive you are, you steer that answer to trump lying about being a 9/11 hero

just talk about musk the way republicans would if he was a democrat a bigoted antisemitic weird foreign billionaire with a weird breeding fetish and a nazi pedo chatbot is funding the republican party. if republicans don't denounce, we know they are pro-nazi pedo bot and the voters should know.

Kevin M. Kruse@kevinmkruse.bsky.social · last mo.

I wrote this piece a few hours ago about how Musk bears responsibility for today's GOP and how they, in turn, must be held responsible for his extremism, but the dollar figures are already out of date. A hateful bigot is funding the Republican midterm campaign. Seems sorta like a big deal?

One guy has a trifecta he's using to hide cops who killed our neighbors for protesting goons putting churro ladies in concentration camps. The other says stupid shit occasionally on a Twitch stream, where he spends like 90% of his waking time. I want my party's leader to fight only the first guy.

Annie Andrews: "What she [Darline Graham] said there was that her healthcare plan is, 'you should work hard until you die' ... I believe Darline's parents deserved better."
