Wait never mind it's just an extended rant about how the people who are upset about an upsetting thing are doing it wrong.

This is a super interesting short paper! Not for the formal results, which I confess I don't really understand. But for the meta-science. It discusses how the same model can be implemented differently in code. So there's a need for independent coding, even when the researchers agree on the model.

Other people have noticed this phenomenon too but danah boyd put the best slogan to it: social media is now parasocial media. Social media hasn't been social for a long while—how long depending on the platform, depending on the milieu. It's not folks sharing equally, but broadcasting and receiving.
