Welcome to the Ravenland! Your hub for all things Forbidden Lands TTRPG. We’re exploring cursed ruins, dodging Bloodmist, and sharing homebrews. Whether you're a GM or adventurer, follow for art, lore, and (non-guaranteed) survival tips!

One thing TTRPG rules miss is reach. If you have a sword & are facing a spear, you cannot hurt the spearman until you're physically past the spear tip. At which point he can't hurt you. This back & forth is an absolutely critical part of real combat & I know of no RPG that models it.

as someone that spent a few years hitting people with actual swords whilst also being hit by other people with actual swords (and tbh probably a lot more of the latter), my contribution to the latest TTRPG discourse about combat is that everyone should give hitting people with actual swords a go

combat is boring if you run it boring but also if your players are boring. of course all standing in a line swinging and missing is boring! have some terrain. make something change every round. tackles, disarms, enemy spells, blinding powders. if you start doing dirty tricks, so will the players

Interested in how much people get to run or play #TTRPG On average its online 3 nights a week. Running 3 campaigns, playing 1. Some ad-hoc. Feels like a lot. I appreciate some play less, but I'm at a stage in life I can afford to indulge hobbies. How about you? Please repost if you can. [1/2]
