So far, the organizers mention data centers first at every single event. From racial justice orgs to old school activists who don’t usually think about tech policy. This has legs.
So many people I encounter, especially in HigherEd, believe the only strategy for this moment is "keep your head down." @debtcollective.bsky.social didn't change priorities in 2024, nor in 2020, nor in 2016. They barreled ahead. There first big win was $800 million. This one is $11 billion.

It might be less that the issue is if one believes Trumpism has won on these issues than how people are betting that the technological capture will hold long enough to institutionalize Trumpism.
My general sense right now is that it is most successful as an ideological project. It exploited media fragmentation, then accelerated it, and is closing in on capturing and institutionalizing the resulting chaos. Pretty successful capturing courts, if you consider that an ideological project too.

There is no version of yourself you could become that would satisfy the people who hate you. So you might as well be who you are.

It’s hard to explain but tv was better when you couldn’t watch the show you wanted whenever you wanted to watch it and most of the shows were worse and the TVs were worse and the entire experience was worse, that’s when it was better

My father, a senior citizen with significant hearing loss, has been dealing with this since May —the thing leaves messages, starts talking before the beep, and gives inaccurate info. More than once he has driven 20+miles round trip to pick up prescriptions that were not actually ready. 😡

Me and some friends went to a club in San Antonio years ago and a gang started shooting at us. We talked to a cop the next day, showed him the bullet holes in our car and the blown out window, and he told us we’re lucky we weren’t killed and thrown in a ditch then he just left.
