Hiiii ! This is your Canadian ceramic artist writing! Soooo after this week-end debacle, I just wanted to write a little update about the Canada - USA trade war and how art is actually political. 80% of my work sells to the U.S. and it looks like I just lost my main source of income.

Canadian otters on a Canadian made mug that's handmade and cute and how could you put tariffs on that ???

Hell Gate reporter Katie Way is not exaggerating when she says that "this video has the potential to become a certified NYC politics cult classic along the lines of the Eric Adams teenage room search PSA." It's cuckoo bananas from start to finish:

The video clip is much more like a work of political satire (or of outsider art) than it is a convincing argument that Bichotte Hermelyn and her cohort are the rightful leaders of the party that represents Kings County's 1.2 million registered Democrats.

• a list of all of the supposed trade demands the US made to Canada goes viral with 900 shares • the list gets tracked back to the original source • turns out it's just an AI-hallucinated summary of a bunch of media rumours God damnit guys

Someone named fede shares a list on bsky earlier today: "The USA demanded Canada's capitulation as if it had lost a war"Someone named Nils Gilman says: "it's an AI synthesis of all publicly reported demands"

Carney has been desperate for a deal at almost any cost. He appeased and caved over and over. That only emboldened Trump. There is no fair or trustworthy deal to be made with the US now. I hope Carney finally realized that.

1/5 The Prime Minister was right to walk away from the negotiating table last night. I believe Canadians are united in this crucial moment, on this crucial point: no deal is better than a bad deal.

I am becoming incredibly exhausted of this pattern: many people: "AI sucks!" Very Smart Person: ah but have you considered (distinct application of ML or statistical modeling that has no real relationship to what the tech industry is marketing as, and people broadly perceive as, "AI")

apropos of nothing, here's a terrific feature about a meaningful, life-saving use of artificial intelligence, which I have been thinking about for over a year. it's just extremely stupid to say that AI has zero benefits even if you don't think it should be used in writing (which I don't)!

Trying to bite my tongue until we know what's actually in the deal but by the looks of this Globe story the list of things we're expected to give remains about 20x longer than the list of things we're hoping to get. (And much more in dollar value.) www.theglobeandmail.com/world/us-pol...

Proposed Canada-U.S. trade deal would lock in 15% auto tariffs, sources say

Deal would lower duties on sector from 25 per cent with no carve-out for Canadian and Mexican components
