If you're looking for drought-proof plants to flower for months on end, may I recommend penstemons and gaura. They've loved this weather and have flowered and flowered, the penstemons since May. Penstemon Heavenly Blue flowered only for a few weeks (but gloriously) but the others have kept on going.
