Earlier today, the discarded upper stage of a Falcon 9 rocket impacted on the Moon. As part of a coordinated observing campaign, our Very Large Telescope detected spectral lines of sodium and lithium gas in the impact plume lasting for 5-10 minutes after impact. 🔭 🧪 📷 ESO/C. Schmidt et al. 1/4

For comparison, Suez fees are around 0.3% with Panama even lower at 0,1%. And these offer canal infrastructure etc. Insurance fees, even in active war zones are usually topped at 1.5% because thats is considered prohibitively expensive

as noted yesterday, Trump has now come around to treating an Iranian toll system covering the Strait of Hormuz as a given. Hard to overstate the level of strategic failure. US started the war purely as a war of choice and ends up dramatically empowering Iran and given the Iranian govt big wins.

New START, the last US-Russia nuclear reduction treaty, expired 6 months ago today. It appears that absolutely nothing has been done to put guardrails back around the two largest nuclear arsenals in the world. Washington and Moscow's dereliction of duty threatens the entire planet.
