Currently in the process of filling out a DPIA for my PhD project, and the last seven sections, spanning four-ish pages, have me effectively repeating the same two pieces of information over and over with marginally different wording each time and hey why is my eye twitching?
Really looking forward to attending this and speaking on methodological approaches to researching the Irish LGBTQ+ diaspora!

A while back I created my own note-taking application by using code + Obsidian. It's a way of organising research grounded in social networks/collective biography. I've since refined it and I'm working on an open source version I'll share more widely. Here is a quick preview:
Presented at the @oralhistoryie.bsky.social annual meeting today about how oral history can unlock the hidden histories of the Irish LGBTQ+ diaspora. Really wonderful experience, though I remain incapable of taking a normal photo!
My wife’s doing a study on rural LGBTQ+ community engagement as part of her degree. If you’re LGBTQ+ and live in Co. Galway and surrounds, please fill in this short survey to help her out! forms.office.com/e/4axxJipWsF

In the grand scheme of things it isn’t a huge deal, but I was looking forward to doing a keynote on gender/queer histories & archives at a conference in Belfast tomorrow - and it has to be rescheduled because of the riots/actions of the racist gobsh*tes - 🤬🤬🤬

Finally got a chance to watch this and it’s really good. Sarah’s stuff is always excellent, but this is a phenomenal exploration of how we can (and in many cases “must”) imagine the past by examining the negative space in the historical record. Personal, emotional, and empathetic to its subjects.
My new video's here. THREE DEAD GIRLS I LOVE is out now on Nebula. At two and a half hours, it's my longest and strangest video ever. It's also my favourite thing I've made. I hope you'll set aside an evening for it. nebula.tv/videos/sarah...
Seems like a surprisingly narrow definition, all things considered. Like, does it have to be Churchill? Does it have to be a beaver? What if the beaver is a conservative? Much to ponder.
i, for one, am delighted that we finally have a definition of “woke”
Had to look up the spelling and plural of something in a dictionary, and trying real hard not to think about what the Top Lookup says about our current historical moment. I’m sure it’s fine.
When my wife and I were planning our wedding, we were both heavily involved and each had opinions about what we wanted. So many times when we met with vendors, I was basically ignored. Not even for things that were specific to her (dress, flowers, etc) but like venues and photography. It was wild!
Young girls and women are groomed for marriage in a way boys just are not. So. This week, I took note of ads that featured weddings. And noted if there was a groom in any of them* *spoiler. There wasn't.
