I was taught at a young age that characters are separate to the author and shouldn't be taken as a 1:1 manifestion of the creator. At the time this seemed slightly patronising, but whatever. I take it back, this is an important lesson that apparently a lot of people needed to have been taught?

I genuinely hate that every job I have now forces me to spend 90% of my day in front of a computer screen. And I still want to be able to work on my own writing and everything, but I don't want to be forced to sit in front of a computer the ENTIRE day.

Every single time I see a new "Is ___ killing you?" I just go "What isn't killing me?" and move on. When everything is compromised and killing us, it's hard to give a shit about sensational headlines about it. Yes, I care, but like... the article isn't going to actually help me at this stage.

Usually when someone tells me a show is "millennial coded," I'll check it out and it just feels like it had a lot of corporate meddling. It's like when I'm told millennial humor is YouTubers who are trying to appeal to tweens. The critique is valid, but the target is wrong.
