New: Macklemore will donate entire $1M of his earnings from Ed Sheeran's tour to six orgs helping Palestinians — and invites Robert Kraft to match him. Says he wants to center Palestinians being killed + journalists & aid workers who keep going. "Their risk is of a far different order than mine."

With everything that has happened over the last 48 hours, I want to bring the conversation back to where it belongs: to the Palestinian people who are still being killed, still living under military occupation, and still fighting for their freedom.
I will be donating the entire $1 million of my net earnings from Ed Sheeran's Loop Tour to six organizations working directly to support the Palestinian people. And I invite Robert Kraft to match my donation. Whatever we disagree about, perhaps we can agree on this: Palestinian lives are worth protecting. A Palestinian life is no less valuable than any other life on this earth.
That is what this has always been about. Not me. Not a tour. Not the headlines or the controversy. It is about Palestinians right to freedom, dignity and safety in their own homeland. I want to center the parents carrying their children into hospitals without the basic resources to treat them, and the physicians, paramedics, journalists and aid workers who keep going back in. I want to center the organizers and activists who have paid real costs for standing with Palestine. Their risk is of a far different order than mine.
Just yesterday, 15 year old Muhammad al Zinati was killed in an Israeli strike while rushing to help aid worker Sherif Lubbad, who had already been injured. He was a child. Both were murdered. Both should be alive. And the ones still under the rubble, whose names exist only in the memories of people who may not have survived to speak them. Writing a check is one of the least costly forms of solidarity available to me. I am doing it because I can, and because these organizations are doing the work while much of the world debates it.
But aid alone cannot address the conditions that make it necessary. This is a manmade injustice, and I believe it requires immediate political change. Palestinians have lived for decades without basic rights and should not have to wait another day to be free. That is where my focus will remain. I will …

I’m writing a book about teaching reading and what it even means to be “a good reader.” I want to talk to as many teachers, librarians, parents, and students as possible. If you have thoughts about reading, please get in touch at readingmachinebook@gmail.com. (And please pass along!)

Just so everyone is clear, the THREE BOOKS this campaign apparently promised come to ~1170 pages, so the project lead was functionally trying to steal $7020 of labor here The kickstarter raised €151,287…in 2023

i was working on a #ttrpg called Blood & Doom and i dropped the project because it was seriously damaging my mental health. i was underpaid (severely) with the lead demanding work that corresponded to a full price ($4 per pageal and no base fee) i don't deserve this

anyone who is concerned about fairness in sports should start with a free lunch program, then breakfast and dinner + summer meals for every kid in the country (healthy, tasty, accessible) after tackling that, you'll need to provide transportation to and from practice and events

I don’t believe AI will kill us all. But I do believe it can make all our lives worse, which has already started to come into effect, and it’s clear that the people behind the technology don’t care at all about the human cost.

The August 2026 TTRPG Crowdfunding Retrospective is here and it's a doozy. The big story? 11 US$100K+ campaigns ended in an 11-day period (8/4-8/14) and collectively raised US$7.8M+ (nearly 83% of all money pledged in August) ttrpg-spider.blogspot.com/2026/09/augu...

August 2026 TTRPG Crowdfunding Retrospective

I feel like I say this every month, but this month is one of the stranger on record for TTRPG crowdfunding. There was an 11-day period (Augu...

not engaging with the wizard show (yes, even through piracy) is a gesture. it's literally the tiniest gesture of solidarity you can make, and it says a lot if that's too hard

"but if you boycott the transphobia tv show, what about all the actors and writers and visual effect artists and grips and craft services and interns whose livelihood depends on that transphobia?" excellent question. the answer is I do not care. I do not care if any of them live or die. thank you.

I was disappointed to find out that TTRPG wiki uses AI to write their game descriptions. I've asked them to remove my games and delete their posts.

sometimes i write some scathing post and just put it in my drafts which is fun because months later i find them again completely devoid of whatever the context was in which i was so annoyed that i wrote it. this one below is one such case, but it is also evergreen.

why is it that whenever people say 'let people enjoy things' it's never about anything actually good

Sam has created something magical with Dice Exploder- it was the impetus for my passion for games blossoming. I'm so thankful for all the work he's put in. I'm stoked to carry the show forward! Great season coming up, and I'm thrilled to show you all what I have brewing for the future of the show

Dice Exploder is back next week, and it's gonna be my last season (at least for now). One more ride, it's been a great time.

One year ago I published a blog post 1 year in the making. Now I give you: the sequel ttrpg-spider.blogspot.com/2026/08/a-bl... Join me as I muse on the role of time in games, what I like about it, and what I don't, as I talk around (and maybe eventually about) the specter of my own mortality

A Blog Post 2 Years in the Making

I’ve made no secret of my general dislike of and fatigue with crowdfunding Months, so I’m absolutely so excited to see Mothership moving in this direction. Not only does it push back against the endless hype cycle, it also reduces dependence on platforms that small hobbyists don’t and can’t own

Mothership Month is back this year, with one big caveat: no crowdfunding, no new releases. Instead we're investing back in the community: For starters: the Jump-9 Writers Grant will invest $9k in 3 new writers to help them each create a Mothership zine. www.failuretolerated.com/mothership-m...
