The thing with Rod Liddle’s darker notions is that a) he thought these things up, b) felt safe enough in his privilege to write them down and c) share them with people who d) then published them for e) people who paid to read them. It’s not just Liddle who deserves the scorn.
I'm saddened by the tone of commentary in this place about Rod Liddle. Not nearly enough people are making it clear that he was not just a violent misogynist, a homophobe, a transphobe and a self-confessed paedophile, but he was also a truly terrible writer who stole a living for decades.

It struck me as bizarre that in a misguided attempt to present as balanced the BBC was over promoting the aspiring PM who would abolish them on day one.

Farage announcement on small boats only gets the third spot and is balanced by critics saying he's trying to distract from allegations over his finances. Quite the change from the uncritical coverage earlier this year.
19 candidates stood in Newbury in 1993. Alan Sked stood for the Anti-Federalist League (which would evolve into UKIP) supported by Enoch Powell. Powell was chauffeured around by a young activist by the name of Nigel Farage, who described his admiration for Powell in one of his books. 2/3

The Reform scandals are great to read about, but it still comes down to what their support are more offended by, corruption or immigrants. Sadly I think we can predict the answer.
I want to go back to a country where people looked out for each other, you could leave your door open, and everyone knew right from wrong. That's why I'm voting for the sleaziest collection of corrupt f***ers the world has ever seen to do that for me.
