City Councillor in Stittsville, one of the most exciting suburbs *in the world* 🚲🚏🚇 (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada)

Today, LRV1117 made the first trip from Kichi Zibi, all the way to Algonquin Station. This marks a major milestone and achievement on the West extension. This LRV will next begin testing all systems and components on the alignment. Congratulations to all the teams involved today. @octranspo.com

Last month we cycled to the National Gallery of #Canada via Quebec to avoid downtown #Ottawa for a nicer cycling experience. The reason for our visit was an extensive exhibit of Canadian #Impressionist paintings by Helen McNicoll, well worth the trip. Here’s the story: #ottbike

Greg McPherson left Stittsville today on his seventh “Steps to Remember” walk of 2026. He’s walking from Stittsville to Barrhaven to City Hall, and will take more than 56,000 steps to honour the more than 56,000 Canadians who have lost their lives to the opioid crisis since 2016.

The research I do relies on the bound volumes of the bylaws and minutes of the City of Ottawa, dating back over a century. I’ve spent hours in the Main Branch Ottawa Room with these books (pictured). Sadly, this resource was recently “discarded” by the library. It’s a loss for local history.

Yesterday I had the chance to visit the monthly Stittsville Friendship Club luncheon. Established in 1982, the club now has more than 300 members, mostly seniors from Stittsville. They organize activities like euchre, shuffleboard, line dancing, along with trips and excursions.
