"Claude broke out and hacked companies" No. The LLM had access to the net (by accident), was tasked with hacking into a supposedly fictitious company (thhat, as it turns out, exists), all without supervision. So nothing "broke out", Anthropic made a bunch of mistakes and had no oversight.

Anybody who isn't cooked by hype and has worked with these systems knows the technicians do tons of preprocessing, that racism and sexism are built-in due to the datasets, and that a doctor in the loop is invaluable.
