Possibly our favourite minute of a meeting ever taken: On the 19th September 1739 the following caught our eye: The Merchant Adventurers paid 2s 6d for "washing the Hall after Mr Peary had showed Lyons". Yes you've read that right. Lions! In the Hall! 🦁💩

We are looking at the ground floor entrance to the Tudor extension. It shows an ornately carved door surround with a lions head mounted above an ionic column on either side of the door.

Socrates Kapsaskis's 'Greek' Translation of James Joyce's ULYSSES was published in 1991. "a work of Homeric proportions, with lexical combinations ranging from the very modern colloquial language to Byzantine, New Testament, and Ancient Greek." (Peter Constantine)

FFS we cannot keep doing this… A handful of the richest people hoovering up wealth from everyone else while quite literally making the planet unlivable At what point does someone grow a fucking spine and do something?!

Once again, GOP sides with Trump over Epstein survivors. Blanche was just as responsible, if not more, than Bondi for the harm done to these woman by the botched rollout of the files. I really don't wanna hear GOP/MAGA talk about protecting women and girls from trans folks. @deadder.bsky.social

Why am I seeing a flurry of Google ads, always wordlessly featuring Nigel Farage pointing sternly or angrily at some BBC guy, promoting non-political services that aren't even based in the UK, posted by verified advertisers based in Latin America with long Spanish names? This is just the latest.

please, my government, stop trying to do this. Regulate big tech companies, yes; ensure fairness and competition. Don't ask for back doors; they make everyone less safe, you can't be trusted, future governments can't either, and it makes it harder to regulate Google and Apple when they are wrong.

What about not enough water for the public? While millions of us face hosepipe bans, AI datacentres are gulping down millions of litres of fresh drinking water every single day.

Governments are weaponising travel bans to silence dissent. By restricting movement, they isolate journalists, silence critics and prevent abuses from reaching an audience. Our new report with the University of Essex examines this growing global threat: www.indexoncensorship.org/2026/07/how-...

The Wildberries hub in Aleksin, Tula oblast, received drone sanctions and is permanently closed for temporary maintenance. Now, only 7 of 26 Wildberries hubs remain operational. By the end of the week, the number remaining will be very small indeed. Then the real mess begins.🔥

Crop yields down, our countryside scorched and over 2800 people are dead due to this summer's heatwaves. Meanwhile fossil fuel giants are raking in record profits. We must end this rampant profiteering, and cut fossil fuels from our energy mix as soon as possible.
