Yeah it’s worth bearing in mind that Saville’s allegations were well known before he died. The shock shown by the media during the investigations was largely performative.

Mark McIntyre@markjmcintyre.bsky.social · 2d agoGreat news - basically extending the #SouthCityWay into the centre of town, all the way up to Argyle Street (itself now being renovated). Network of protected cycle routes in and across the city centre now really visibly coming together.
If it was me, I’d probably google the person everyone is mad at before jumping into the discourse but everyone has their own path I guess.

I do now: I wouldn’t have posted if I'd known. I’ve seen death of difficult people up close (and its impact on others): that’s the only reason it was on my mind as an issue.

A lot of people today talking about an awful person who died but i want to make everyone aware of a good person who died: Northern Irish comedian Jimmy Cricket, who you should all look up if you don’t know. 10/10 all around wife guy, dad, granddad, and just a generally solid person
A child’s parents’ income is not evidence of whether the child is being well-cared-for or fed. A surprising number of kids do not have access to their parents’ plentiful resources. Means testing parents is not going to feed every kid who needs it. Just feed all the kids.
