I'm here, I'm queer, I like fanfic with a subby Wade Wilson. Cheesevangelist/horror addict/writer/compulsive baker of cakes. They/them https://www.dylan-pierce.com/

We should rate our anxiety on a scale of fictional characters. For example, I’ve been operating at a “Holly Hunter in Broadcast News” level for the last three days

Jennifer Kent kicked off "elevated horror" in 2014 with THE BABADOOK. Her next film flopped, and she never made another. Ana Lily Amirpour made A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT; her next film flopped, now she directs TV episodes. *Julia Ducournau* had a movie out last year & I didn't hear about it.

My touchiness in re: Schoenbrun is that, look, they're a rising queer director, they're getting lots of exposure, so there's backlash. Tall poppies get cut. If they were a white cis man, we'd all love them again by the next movie. But we don't live in a world where a next Schoenbrun is guaranteed!

This is not to minimize the larger problems of our food being dangerous and unregulated, but as a person who puts cilantro and jalapenos in everything, especially when it's still summer food time, I am suffering. Idk what to cook anymore I'm gonna starve

So glad people are finally talking about how weird the premise of that sex purge movie is because I’ve been seeing trailers for it at AMC for MONTHS, feeling like I’m losing my mind, but nobody ever seemed to know what I was ranting about

Genuinely don't know how we're supposed to not be in a constant state of heart attack-inducing levels of anxiety when the food and the air and the water will kill us, like how am I supposed to just chill for even a second

looking at That Movie Logging Site (I've noticed if I name it, weirdos looking for mentions show up), I may be the only one who thought Maddie's Secret was super tonally jumbled which... surprises me

I love when we ask our friends for advice on mundane adult things and vice versa. Maybe it's because I have shit family so my friendships are my family, but something comforting about convos like "you think this food is too expired to eat?" "you ever had an AC make this noise/did you fix it?"

It's a complex area. A lot of what coping used to look like for me involved doing stuff I hated, or stuff that had significant components I hated, & just white knuckling through it, drinking heavily to numb the sirens. I thought I had to & I was pathetic & silly for struggling.
