I’ve been screening our documentary with organizing communities in the South. So far, the organizers mention data centers first at every single event. From racial justice orgs to old school activists who don’t usually think about tech policy. This has legs.

Dr. Abdul El Sayed, Melat Kiros and Darializa Avila Chevalier (the latter two are PhD candidates) examples of academics who successfully went out of the ivory tower and talked to regular people and resonated with them. but you'll never hear of this as an example of higher ed being engaged.

In your article, you mentioned a graphic "Only You Can Prevent Data Centers"- that you thought was made by AI. It wasn't, it was made by me, an artist that is very much against AI. In fact, I turned it into a shirt and raised money for a local arts education nonprofit in Chicago.

I've worked in journalism for a long, long time. Trans people's skepticism about and hostility to the field is beyond merited. Honestly, I share a lot of it. I think there's a role for trans journalists when we draw upon, and learn from, the radical tradition. The example is Ida Wells, not the NYT
what's "funny" is aipac probably would've ghosted stevens if she won, because then it'd be zionist vs zionist (rogers has taken half a million from aipac already) and it wouldn't have mattered that much to them who won. but now that it's AES vs rogers, they might double down on the general campaign.
