The Rapid 215 is rapid only in the sense of limited stops. It isn’t faster and doesn't run reliably on-time more. There is no perceptible working Transit Signal Priority on ECB. It constantly gets delayed for left turning cars.

A group of people on bikes should be be weaving back and forth slowly across the general use lanes.

I bypassed the crosswalks on ECB at I-15 because if I hadn't, it would have been another misconnect from a late 215 to a half-hourly 235. But at least left-turning cars weren't delayed. #TransitSignalPriorty just isn’t on ECB.

"Using the bike parking space at least once per week" That's a deal killer. While I could easily average once per week, having to use a bike locker at least once every week might be the reason I've never seen a bike in one of these bike lockers in 10+ years of using transit in San Diego.

The safety issue isn't that the e-bike could go 28 mph. The huge safety issue is a 5000 pound SUV that can go much faster than 28 mph being allowed on city streets.

A teenager was struck and killed by an SUV while riding his bike in Lower Manhattan today and the comments in the local press stories are unhinged. People rushing to blame the CHILD for riding a bike, not the person driving an SUV on inner city streets. People have lost their damn minds.

San Diego greatly overestimates the number of streets it designates as low stress. Based on how people are actually driving now, very few of these streets are low stress. There's nothing remotely close to a network of high-quality, low-stress bike routes and it shows in the lack of bike riders.

More cities need to plan bike-lane networks like this

It only took commutes on MTS for two days this week to get to my destination 25 or minutes late due to a late bus causing me to miss a connection to a bus with infrequent service. Once again, it's back to driving to work for the rest of this week.

It's not uncommon while on my bike or e-bike to stop for someone waiting to cross at a crosswalk and have car after car continuing to roll through in the opposite direction. It just seems that anything less than car-sized is invisible to those drivers.

The new thing I hate so much is that if you stop to let someone cross at a crosswalk the driver behind you will have a straight up conniption (and often try to veer into the parking lane to pass you, directly into the pedestrian).

The biggest declines in safety for San Diego have been for bicycles going from 12 of 15 in 2017 (15 is safest) to 6 of 15 (1 is least safe) in 2023. The number of those injured or killed didn't change much, so it appears San Diego is treading water while other cities are getting safer.

In San Diego, reducing threats from road-related collisions is going to have to come through traffic calming because enforcement ceased years ago. That safer streets are needed is still mostly lost on the people that drive everywhere and want to treat city streets as highways.

There are cities in California doing automated enforcement. San Diego isn't one of them and it shows. This location is frequently blocked, more often by more than one car.

The maximum speed limit on streets and highways in cities should be 25 mph. If you want to go faster, use rail.

For “Metro Reliable,” Bass pledged that “buses and trains will show up when they’re supposed to, and this system will work.” Adding a token amount of new bus lanes doesn't do that. There should be widespread signal preemption for buses and rail, all-door boarding, large increase in bus lanes, etc.
