Hot take: I don't think social media made people dumber. We've been dumb this whole time. It's just that you used to have to have a job that people sent their dumb letters to, to notice. This made "Engaging with fools" an occupational hazard rather than the 24/7 experience it is presently.

I don’t think I’ve ever crossed there or watched anyone else cross there without a driver going right through while the lights are flashing.

This crosswalk is so unsafe. Dentith is only like 400 metres long with lots of pedestrians and lots of left turn movements and drivers speed on it as if they think it’s a highway they’re actually going to get somewhere fast. www.facebook.com/share/v/1Bpk...

The total property tax revenue out of Bayers Lake is ~$24.6m/year on roughly 860 acres of developed land. If it had the same revenue per acre profile as Downtown ($38.5m/year on ~110 acres), it would generate approximately $300m in taxes per year, or roughly a quarter of all current revenue.

If this area of land had the density of Barrington or Spring Garden that'd be like an whole extra annual city budget's worth of revenue which would result in a HUGE drop in the tax rate. But, we'd rather pay for parking as long as it's disguised as property taxes

Trish Purdy voted against this but said she also understands how it affects new homeowners, including her son. Purdy said her son can get a second job or just work harder to pay his tax bills.

This involves a heck of a lot of consent for projects involving art installations, benches, community libraries or paint. We should examine why we scrutinize anything not involving cars so much

i hate that every one carbrain solution is "traffic lights", not reduce the priority we give to drivers. Reduce the width of the lanes, make it inconvenient for drivers to use the area.

Patrick is constantly out walking, running, maintaining sidewalks, everything. It brings it home how lethal this activity is here. I fear for the vulnerable in my community, particularly seniors
