Because what they really mean is "people need training in how to uncritically accept GenAI and use it everywhere without feeling bad or complaining about it." It's indoctrination masquerading as instruction.

Every time someone says that people need "training in AI" I struggle to understand how you train someone to use the "ask me anything, at anytime, for any reason" machine, or why you would need to.

We survived GenCon Writers Symposium 2026, y’all (and that’s saying something considering the occasional tornado). I was so busy running around I barely got to enjoy it. Luckily, my interns and friends made sure to slow me down to experience what we were curating.

Friends, I've been in this business quite a while, and been on panels at many conventions. But I've never had a literal tornado warning in the middle of a panel cause a group from another panel--about writing sex--to have to shelter in our room. And OUR panel topic, you ask? Improvisation. :D

Yes; for me it's about rejecting all of it, including the alleged "utility" which is largely a mythologized mirage, but in general I agree with much of this thread.

Rejecting LLMs isn’t about rejecting their utility or failing to be aware of their power —it’s about rejecting that political project; born out of an awareness that any use of these machines at all promulgates that project and assembles me into adjacent responsibility for its commission.
