New Yorker. Gargoyles lorekeeper. Podcaster by trade, storyteller by obsession. Demona’s champion, bane of shallow storytelling.

I think one of the biggest canaries in the coal mine for where we are today was when Discovery Channel aired that fake "documentary" claiming Megalodon was still alive, complete with laughably fake photos of dorsal fins alongside Nazi U-boats.

If I never see another giant portal in the sky or blue beam shooting into the heavens in a movie again, it'll be too soon. It stopped being impressive years ago. I'd rather see a climax driven by character than another CGI hole in the atmosphere.

The big disconnect in online media discussion appears to be between those talking about blorbos as if they are works of fiction created by real people with influences both conscious and unconscious, and those talking as if blorbos are real people

So.... Will they pull the plug on the life support on Mitch tomorrow or wait 'til Tuesday to pretend they weren't just waiting until the appointment deadline to pull the plug?

#EventsDearBoy 7. INFERNO (1988, Marvel) Hell hath no fury like a creator (of strong women characters) scorned. Ordered to kill off his supporting character Madelyne Pryor, Chris Claremont did so in the most rageful way possible and turned her into a fan icon

X-MEN 241: Madelyne Pryor, the Goblin Queen (a redhead in a revealing black outfit and a massive cape) stands behind and flanked by demons, one of whom is carrying a baby (hers)

#EventsDearBoy 8. SECRET WARS (2015, Marvel) The ultimate event. 200-plus tie-ins, Marvel publishing nothing else for months, and the grand resolution of Jonathan Hickman's "multiversal collapse" story. It's a lot!

Thirty years later, I still don't get nostalgic for Blockbuster. I get nostalgic for the mom-and-pop video stores with the obscure films, foreign movies, and knowledgeable staff that Blockbuster helped wipe out.

I think TVTropes, CinemaSins, and MovieBob encouraged an entire generation to mistake cataloging, nitpicking, and hot takes for criticism.

He was a child, already living in NYC, when 9/11 happened. So not only are they racists, their argument doesn't even make the sense they think it does. I bet someone who was a Muslim middle school New Yorker on that day has a lot more reason for solemnity than they want to acknowledge.

A petition with more than 65,000 signatures urges NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani not to attend this year's 25th anniversary 9/11 memorial.

You know what's nice about MCU Spider-Man vs other modern Spidey media of the last 15-ish years? It keeps its supporting cast as regular people, with their own lives and drama, rather than turn them all into freaking superheroes. Let the supporting cast be a supporting cast.
