I write NYT-bestselling things. Things that children read.🖖🏻 Books in 2026: THE NEW CAT. More coming. MN-raised, CA-aged. She/her Rep: Jenn Laughran/ABLA Profile art: @cpark.bsky.social Go Blue! https://www.stephanielucianovic.com

In place of Katey's dedication is this line: "This book was written by Katey Howes prior to her passing. Her loving family would like to dedicate it to her and her passion for writing books for children." Elizabet's dedication reads: "For Katey"

It was a challenging and unorthodox way to go about finalizing the text, but fortunately the manuscript we acquired was already very strong and didn't need extensive changes. More than anything, I wanted to do right by @kateywrites.bsky.social and make something she would have been proud of. ♥️

Katey died suddenly just as editing was about to begin. We pushed the book back a season to give everyone some time to grieve and figure out next steps. In the end, I ran editorial suggestions by Katey's husband, who also shared all of her drafts with me.

Kidlit authors are underpaid and struggling in this industry. We try to celebrate every little win in the face of all the rejection, lack of $$$, and middling support. Now, @pwkidsbookshelf.bsky.social is taking away one of those celebrations for us. This sucks.

The diarrhea lettuce company, Taylor Farms, uses slave labor contracted from the Arizona Dept. of Corrections. The backbreaking labor is often performed by imprisoned Mexican nationals who would be otherwise ineligble to work in the US. They are paid $1.50 an hour.

The Diarrhea Lettuce Company Has Been Linked to Forced Labor

The lettuce-producing Taylor Farms was linked to the widespread use of prison labor before its involvement in a cyclospora outbreak.

One day I will fulfill my dream of staying at a hotel for more than two days and managing to turn the correct way out of an elevator bank when I reach my floor instead of being embarrassed when I find myself looking at myself in the mirrror yet again. But not today.

Let's keep our eyes on Nolan Wells. This young man deserves our remembrance & his family deserves our support. It seems only Black people nationally, Mississippi, & Ms Rachel care. But you all should know hearts hurt over this. If you want to know what's on the minds of Black America, it's this.

Ashton Pittman@ashtonpittman.bsky.social · last wk.

I wish everyone approached the Nolan Wells story with the care Duvalier Malone does. Care for truth. Care for the grieving family. Care for the grieving friends. Care for the history of mistreatment that informs Black Mississippians distrust of the system. It's all the above.

Yup, not only do they shame others for using it but it's become a catch-all term for a lazy, dumb person or move. "Yo, that idea is so AI bruh 💀" And when you get shamed by a teen, you can see the burn on your skin. They're not stupid. AI is.

I was just talking with @grubreport.bsky.social about how AI has become a slur/insult for high schoolers. That's probably the biggest thing tech companies didn't anticipate. Once you lose the younger generation, you're not getting them back.

INTIMIDATION FAILED The FBI showed up at reporters’ homes. During dinner. Demanding they reveal confidential sources. Not because the story was false. Because it embarrassed Trump. Now the DOJ is backing down and withdrawing the subpoenas after getting hammered in court.
