how are we supposed to stop an elderly man with dementia who constantly shits himself and can barely string a sentence together? idk, one slippery flight of stairs? it's not like he's in a fucking battle mech

In all seriousness, one thing that might be worth doing today: Tell your Reps and Senators to call Adm. Richard Correll, the Commander of U.S. Strategic Command, which controls the nation's nukes, and remind him of *his* unique responsibility to refuse an illegal order.

"What can Democrats do?" When the South Korean president attempted to declare martial law, South Korean lawmakers literally fought through tanks and military forces and climbed fences to get into their Parliament building to stop him. So, you know, that.

I keep seeing "all authors use AI, the real issue is they're being forced to be sneaky about it" headlines. Full stop No. This is a lie peddled for normalization. It's schoolyard-level pressure tactics "C'mon, all the cool kids are already doing it. We won't tell. It's fine. We're on your side."

It's Trans Day of Visibility today. If you're trans and are raising money for something (I don't care what it is), reply to this thread and I will boost you. If you are a cis person, take a look and find someone to support if you can. Everyone give this a share after.

I’m sharing this video again because people don’t really get what these data centers and ai are doing to our planet and our communities. Especially Black communities because they were strategically placed there. I need you to listen to these people. STOP USING AI. STOP SUPPORTING AI.

The world has entered “an era of global water bankruptcy” with irreversible consequences, according to a new United Nations report. https://cnn.it/4qxGTNX

Big fan of how detailed some of the move description are now, down to the % chance of effect happening and what sub-category the move is (sound, wind, slicing, etc). There's also now new "statuses" to describe certain effects like Landed, Sky-High, Destiny Bound, Minimized, etc. love them.

Dragon Rush (Physical, 100 Power, 75% Accuracy) now also states its exact chance to flinch the target at 20%, in addition to its hidden effect of can't miss and dealing double damage against Minimized target.Helping Hand (Status move, boost power of ally's move during this turn) now clearly describes that it boosts an ally's move by 50% and has +5 priority.Weather Ball (Special, 50 Power, 100% Accuracy, changes type depend on the weather) now specifies what type each weather will give it (Fire for Sun, Water for Rain, Ice for Snow and Rock for Sandstorm) and that it's a Ball & Bomb move (which is blocked by Bulletproof ability).Disable (Special, block the target's ability to use their last move for 4 turns) now says "Gives the target the Move Disabled status for 4 turns." and is categorized as a Mental move (which means it can be cured by Mental Herb. presumably the More Info button at the bottom left would be used to tell you what Move Disabled status is.

try as companies might to project an illusion of business as usual onto this year's gdc, the reality of the show was anything but. game developers are feeling the squeeze from the industry's uncertain future and a country in rapid, violent decline. the anxiety was palpable. the vibes were off

"This year, what really took me aback was [questions during the panel about] ICE,” said Amaya. “'How is possibly being deported, even as a US citizen, affecting you?' Even our vice president, Diana Rodriguez, had recently traveled back from Japan with me, because we went on a fun trip, and at the airport she got stopped on her way in [to the US] because of her last name. Even the customs agent was like 'It's because you have a Latino last name.'"

"We brought it up at the panel, and other people started bringing in their experiences,” she added. “It's just so crazy to go from 'We're Latinos, and we love that. We're another diversity group that has its own feelings and thoughts' to 'Are we going to be fucking deported without legal and due process?'"

Not everyone made it to the panel—or GDC—unscathed.

"For the people that were attending from Latin America, a couple of them did have problems at the border,” said Amaya. “We had a couple of Panamanian devs who said that they got held for three or four hours, which is crazy because they're indie devs. What are they bringing? They were a little scarred by it, but they were trying very hard to be hopeful, because GDC is supposed to be this big place of opportunity, right?"
