Unexpected achievement: my paper published in the @poqjournal.bsky.social got almost 10k upvotes on Reddit. With the obvious caveat: it's a literature review of associations between attitudes (sexism and political preferences), so we should be careful with saying that one "shapes" another.

Today marks one year since I submitted a paper to a good journal in political science. And I’m still waiting for the first reviews. When we write to the editors, they reluctantly promise to remind the reviewers. Any recommendations? What should I do?
Two days, three invitations to review... The sad day has come when I must start turning down some invitations. Sorry.

Over... 8 months after acceptance, my literature review on sexism and political attitudes is finally out in @poqjournal.bsky.social: doi.org/10.1093/poq/... You can find an OA version in the post I am sharing below.
Many studies attribute the success of right-wing parties to sexism. What is sexism? How is it measured? How does it influence elections? My systematic review of studies on sexism as a predictor of political behavior and attitudes is about to appear in @poqjournal.bsky.social! 1/7
My short debut in the Brussels bubble media. I comment on the last edition of the Gender Equality Index. Don't believe we are "50 years from equality"; the increase of the index is driven mostly by women's increasing participation in power. There is little or negative change in other areas.

Doch, in der Schweiz ist diese Entwicklung sogar fast noch ausgeprägter, ich hatte hierfür mal diese Grafik gebastelt gehabt:
Seksisme en politiek.
I identified 97 studies (including 84 after Trump was elected in 2016 and 42 on that election alone). Most of the papers have been dedicated to the US. I hope the questions included in the recent @ess-survey.bsky.social will lead to many new studies on Europe. 2/7
As one reviewer said: “The appendix is a treasure trove of information.” It has two parts: 1) An Excel table with a detailed description of all studies: concepts and survey items, research questions, results. I tried to make this database easy to search through and filter. osf.io/fajcy/ 5/7

Gender attitudes are likely more important than gender alone. The literature confirms that hostile and modern sexism played a role in Trump’s election and probably the success of other radical/far-right parties. 3/7
