I've been fascinated with e-paper art displays for a while now, but converting images so they look good on e-paper is still pretty hard. Last weekend, I had Claude whip me up a new tool that combines the best features from all dithering conversion tools! style.oversubstance.net/2026/06/dith...

Dithering is obsolete (except when it isn't); creating OpenDithering – Style over Substance

OpenDithering is a browser-based dithering tool made for displaying art on e-paper, packed with every feature I could want.

The Artemis II mission reminds me of these 1960s photos of NASA astronauts training in Iceland because they felt the terrain would be similar to what they'd encounter on the moon. The outfits are so great, even some 60 years later.

Photo of three men standing on top of rocky terrain. One is wearing a blue zip-up jacket with a blue chambray shirt and tan chinos. One is wearing a green-black checkered jacket with red chamois shirt, white pants, and cowboy hat. The other is wearing a blue parka with with blue jeans. Two photos. In the first, three men are wearing bomber jackets with blue or white jeans. In the second image, one man is wearing an off white (possibly chamois?) shirt with blue jeans. Another is wearing a blue denim trucker with blue jeans. A third is wearing a blue quilted parka. Two photos of groups of men. They are wearing Nordic sweaters, olive bomber jackets, flight suits, black-green checkered jackets, cowboy hats, beanies, and jeans. Two photos. In one, there's a man wearing a brown tweed with a checked shirt. In the other photo, men are wearing bomber jackets and high-waisted cotton pants.

I’ve been playing around with Claude Code to create and improve some custom integrations for my smart home, and I was surprised by how well it works! Even managed to get my Tuneshine working by just feeding Claude the API spec. A quick blog: style.oversubstance.net/2026/04/usin...

Using Claude Code to write Home Assistant integrations – Style over Substance

I used Claude Code to write custom Home Assistant integrations that did not yet exist, and solved my own problems.

You asked and we listened! For years, the community has been asking for a new design in Home Assistant. Something modern and timeless, something to match the power of the platform. We’re pleased to announce that an improved UI trial is now available. 👇
