You're banned from watering your tomatoes. Thames Water leaks 600 million litres a day. Data centres drink what's left. Three decades of privatised water: dividends out, sewage and leaks in. Drought is the weather, this scarcity is a business model. Public ownership now.

I can’t find any simpler way of saying what I need to say than: when you vote, this election? Think of the children. All of them; explicitly the children you can not help in person. Other people’s children. Vote for them? 🙏
I've not taught for 3 years. The thing that united my traumatised kids, behavioural issues kids, neurodivergent kids, kids with special needs in my entire career wasn't that I couldn't hit them. IT WAS THAT THERE WERE NOT ENOUGH RESOURCES TO SUPPORT THEIR NEEDS AND HELP THEM ACHIEVE THEIR POTENTIAL.
Featuring my nephew, Benji! Thanks The Sapling for continuing your excellent coverage of NZ books and for introducing them to new readers. It also shows there is still an assumption among rangatahi that NZ books aren’t as good as ‘overseas’ books so it’s great to do things like this to dispel that.

Smart Govts do everything they can to cut fossil fuel dependency. Reduce climate pollution, reduce Trumpflation, increase energy sovereignty.
The current NZ govt's Climate Change Response Amendment Bill would disregard the Paris Agreement and eliminate consultation; "do everything in secret, cut the public out." "This is a total repudiation of the Zero Carbon Act, [and] the end of any pretense of bipartisanship on climate change." #nzpol

What a thrill and an honour it was to work with Sam Neill on my second-ever film. If there’s one thing I particularly remember, it’s was the endless generosity he showed to his 16-year-old co-stars – supporting them to give the best performances they could, while effortlessly delivering himself.

It's a collective psychopathy, which treats disabled people, elderly people and people with long-term conditions as disposable. We see it in the Covid-19 pandemic. We see it in the heatwaves. Their deaths are inconvenient reminders that a favoured policy is disastrous. So they must be dismissed.
