Palestinian students are having their study visas refused. Ministers Lawless and O’Callaghan must intervene. The Irish Universities Association (IUA) should speak publicly on behalf of the students and its member universities

You may have heard Gazan students, who have all been accepted onto fully funded scholarships for third-level courses, have had their visa applications turned down. As a nation we proclaim to be supportive of Palestine and want to help them however we can. Allowing students to complete degrees 1/2

BIG news in the fight for Dublin 8 pitches! We've just seen the initial planning documents for a fullsize pitch at Donore Avenue. Our local committee will get a presentation on Wed 17th with full planning lodged the next week. Plenty of road left to travel, but this is great, great news!

The climate and biodiversity crises remain the greatest threat to our society... but most politicians seem to think they are no longer important. Not all problems are environmental problems - but they all present a choice between a short-term fix and a sustainable solution.

Data centres uses 32% of Ireland's total electricity supply but pay almost less than half of the residential rate. So we're effectively subsidizing tech giants during a cost of living & energy crisis. Meanwhile this Govt continues to cheerlead their expansion & continue to fail in their obligations.

Bild_"The Government’s consistent cheerleading for data centre expansion has reached a point of reckless disconnect from the economic reality of Irish citizens... Irish families are paying nearly double the electricity rates of these industrial facilities, effectively subsidizing the massive energy consumption of global tech giants while struggling with a punishing cost-of-living crisis."

Is the Minister for Media, Patrick O'Donovan, going to haul the media in every time he disagrees with their coverage of his Government's mismanagement? It is inappropriate for the Minister to interfere in the independence of media when their reporting does not suit his Government.

The Critical Infrastructure Bill means that projects that definitely will have a climate impact; big energy projects like liquefied natural gas and electricity sucking data centres, these projects will no longer have their climate impact assessed when they're going for planning permission.

My testimony at the Oireachtas (Irish Parliament) Justice Committee yesterday evening: new documents reveal serious problems in the recruitment process for Ireland's Data Protection Commissioner.

Ireland can no longer afford a National Development Plan that merely "aims" for green targets or one that relies on fossil fuels. Green energy independence means that when global conflicts drive up the price of oil and gas, Irish families are protected because their power comes from renewables!

This Friday is Daffodil Day🏵️☀️ 🌱 In our lifetimes, 1 in 2 of us will receive the news that we have cancer. This morning we welcomed the Irish Cancer Society for our own coffee morning event in the House of the Oireachtas - thanks to all who attended.

The Shamrock Ceremony suggests Ireland and the U.S. share the same worldview - right now, that simply isn’t true. The Taoiseach should this year focus on diplomatic events outside of the White House in Washington.
