Anil Dash@anildash.com · 2d agoI really wish Apple sold a standalone TouchID button. I know there's that crazy hack where you can rip apart a keyboard and just use the TouchID button, but that's nuts. Just give us the button so we can use TouchID with our own mechanical keyboards!

This is what most “state of the art” developer experience research sounds like (Which is why @grimalkina.bsky.social’s book stands out so much. I’ll write a review on it soon, but it’s delightful and should be required reading for anyone director and higher in a company)

Hello. If you struggle with maladaptive overachievement, and anxiety about productivity, and you experience relief at the sensation of productivity and difficulty regulating your behavior around demands for you to be productive, that doesn't make you a bad person, and that is not addiction.
The idea that there's an easy abundance of free resources to learn to code is laughable once you've done what I've done and been a VP of research at a company that helped thousands of people break into tech careers. There's an abundance of *beginner tutorials*

When you tell me "everyone I talk to just thinks AI is magical," I don't believe you. I flat out do not believe you. I am an expert in interviewing people, a psychologist who studies beliefs, and got my PhD in a theory of mind lab. You do not know how to elicit what people believe.

Are we mad at this because they’re rich or because women are only good parents if they sacrifice everything for 18 years? It’s odd seeing all the men quoting this to dunk on it and call it ridiculous. This is pretty honest about the emotional and physical labour required for raising children

I just need people to realise that experts fairly universally say “we barely understand any of this” when it comes to dopamine or basically anything about the brain So turning around and scribbling “my feelings —> buzzwords” onto cardboard with giant crayons is not going to work

I think the role social media has played in helping millions of women realize they're being systematically gaslit here is fascinating. Sometimes you have to change beliefs in order to change anything else.
