Happy #WorldHorseshoeCrabDay! These spinning #horseshoecrab (Limulus polyphemus) embryos are developing inside their eggs, just weeks away from hatching. Despite their name, horseshoe crabs are closer relatives of spiders and scorpions than crustaceans.

Join our team (at @biom-banyuls.bsky.social and in collaboration with LBBM) to examine the effects of the deployment of a solar farm on larval and juvenile fishes, as well as biofouling communities. The job will combine fieldwork, laboratory analyses and experimental approaches.
We recruit a research engineer to examine the potential impacts of an offshore solar farm on biofouling communities and fish early life-stages, through fieldwork (monitoring and sampling) and experimental (ecotoxicology) approaches. emploi.cnrs.fr/Offres/CDD/U... (in FRENCH)
Happy to share the new publication from the @cnidevo.bsky.social 🎉 This afternoon, we celebrated this work with a "pot". Congratulations to all the teams involved!

The pericardium forms as a distinct structure during heart formation - Nature Communications
The developing heart integrates several progenitor cell types. Here they show that the pericardium enveloping the heart develops among cells that form the mesothelium around inner organs and body cavities, distinct from the classic heart field.

The pioneering research uncovering the viral causes of #MultipleSclerosis I mentioned in my previous post just won this year's Breakthrough prize. “A few decades ago, young scientists were advised to pick another disease to study”. The reality now of #NeuroCovid and #LongCovid shorturl.at/zVRNO
2022 was a great year for #MultipleSclerosis research. A study with over 10 million demonstrated an increased risk for MS after EBV infection. Another study proved how EBV does molecular mimicry to induce autoimmunity and destroy the neurons' myelin. #NeuroCovid time will arrive.
