Interesting example of an #IndieDev using GenAI but it seemingly not going great. Day 1 sales seem decent (for a self-published, micro indie) which shows the premise is appealing, but reviews are going to bury it quick, most complaining about nonsensical AI. store.steampowered.com/app/4832480/...

It's boring and expensive but infrastructure is the best way to deal with the future. Water companies should have been building reservoirs, but they've been loading up with debt and paying dividends. Nationalise, build, and prepare for this being what summer is now.

Friendslop is super interesting. The expected bar for visual fidelity, tight animation and bounds/clipping seems so low, as long as gameplay is good and original. One of this week's Steam best selling new releases, Waterpark Simulator (out of early access): store.steampowered.com/app/3293260/...

I am simultaneously locked out of my Microsoft Org account AND unable to log OUT of my Microsoft personal account. Slow clap to one of the wealthiest organisations in history. An amazing achievement to have sustained such a shitshow for literal decades now

So many people get caught up trying to be on the bandwagon for the "next big thing in games", they forget to focus on things THEY most love themselves. Been there, struggled with that. Allow me to refer you to this Mr Bingo piece...

Let's just tax the shit out of Starbucks. When they leave, we'll use that tax money to subsidise VAT breaks for independent coffee shops who can pickup all the ex-Starbs workers. Like rehoming battery hens, they'll grow new plumage and flourish ☕

I have been running purely off solar power (+generator backup) since April 2025. This is what that looks like for the 3 of you that might be interested. About £150 worth of diesel in the past 15 months.

A graph showing last 12 months power usage and generation. 1422kWh consumed, 1200 from solar, 340 from generator

Half way through the year and this is interesting. This is the first year since 2019 that Steam's revenue _might_ not increase year on year. I mean, it's still a huge number and not at all relative to the insanity that is investment in games (or lack of), but still interesting.

It's weird being in games marketing but having had one foot in traditional agency land too. Cannes is the biggest marketing event of the year for all other sectors. Games dgaf. (and that's awesome 🤘)

After the demise of Twitter, I quite liked *cough* LinkedIn *ahem* for a bit. The focus on work and related discussion was kinda cool and I have a good global network of games folks on there. Sadly, it's gradually gotten even shitter UI and algorithm wise with too much genAI cack to wade through
