'Game Recomps That Aren't Vibe-Coded' a list of games by WumpaGem | Backloggd
With the sheer abundance of game recompilations built with generative AI tools getting unwarranted attention from clickbait news outlets I felt we need some kind of curated database of recompilations ...

How on earth did I manage to write this much about Quest 64?
heyserg's review of Quest 64 | Backloggd
Barren environments, empty rooms, a handful of repetitive music tracks, and a paper thin narrative paint an unfinished picture of an unfinished game but Quest 64 also contains a snappy combat system w...

I wrote so much more about Cairn than I was expecting. It's a beautiful game that really hooked me once I got over its larger-than-expected difficulty curve. I discuss the story in depth within but clearly mark when I start getting into spoilers. Also screenshots in the replies.
heyserg's review of Cairn | Backloggd
Video games about climbing aren't exactly rare, from Celeste to Jusant to Getting Over It to Lorn's Lure and on and on, but Cairn sets itself apart with a set of mechanics that are intense and specifi...

I wrote a bit about the new Paranormasight. I'm late to the party but just in time for some good summer reading. Without spoiling anything, I liked it! A lot! There's a Hagakure quote in here and it's relevant I swear.

I don't review every Doom wad I play but Eye Juice was truly outstanding. I'd encourage you to check it out even if you don't really mess with the Doom scene. I'll also include some screenshots below.
heyserg's review of Eye Juice | Backloggd
A fresh coat of paint applied to Doom 2 that looks and sounds great but also enhances rock solid classic Doom gameplay. The maps are mostly short and sweet and their sheer variety contribute to a sens...

Being a mediocre straight cis white man, not too much to say about Pride month except... If you haven't already, you gotta watch Brave Bang Bravern! It's like if a Super Robot anime was co-authored by Chuck Tingle. It is also EXTREMELY good and a cozy single afternoon's watch at 12 episodes.

in a world where a plagiarism machine is being used for deepfake revenge porn and CSAM is being forced on every computer and app by 1%-er people who talk and think like rapists, if your battle is with what people draw or with sex work in general, you're the monster or you're the bootlicker or both.
I'll say what Bluesky fails to address in v1.122 They've rolled out a new "adult content" tag applied on an entire account, hiding all their posts from users, including text posts, even if they may be SFW This update, while well-intentioned, defeats the whole purpose of the content filters system
Bluesky@bsky.app · 5mo agov1.122 is rolling out today, featuring a better way to discover and share articles, blog posts and newsletters across the Atmosphere via new, dynamic Standard.site link cards. 🧵
I have a lot of nostalgia for Oblivion but none of the other ES games ever stuck with me so I did a brief little jaunt through the one I liked and had a really great time. Screenshots in replies.
heyserg's review of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Game of the Year Edition | Backloggd
You ever re-install The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion just to feel something? Oblivion was one of the first games I ever pirated on a newly built PC that was mine and mine alone. I remember a feverish fi...

The way that portrait was hung up...... It was almost as if she was being declared the true master of Rokkenjima.
pure gameplay arcade guys have the most unhinged gaming opinions but tbh I think they understand the atristry behind the medium more than the guys who think games like Silent Hill 2 should represent gaming as an art because of emotional narrative
Reducing car dependency is an anti-poverty initiative and the republicans (and occasional democrats) who insist we can’t afford investments in transit don’t realize how much it hurts to run Americans into the ground with car payments, gas, insurance, maintenance. America’s biggest ponzi scheme imo
David Zipper@davidzipper.bsky.social · 7mo ago“When insurance, gas, repairs and maintenance are included, the total cost of owning a vehicle has risen more than 40% since January 2020.” This is not sustainable.
