At our town hall in Johnstown, Trump voters, independents, & Democrats sat down for a respectful dialogue. There was disagreement on immigration and crime. What we agreed on was a billionaire tax, fixing our broken healthcare system & bringing manufacturing jobs back to America.

Our skin is around 35°C So we really need the air temp to be <35°C in order for sweat to evaporate and cool us down. When we go above 35°C AND we have high humidity - which we currently have - our bodies - yes, even the fit and healthy ones - have to work really hard to regulate

Climate change and heat health is the focus of some of the research being undertaken by the Weather and Climate Science for Services Partnership (WCSSP) programme, supported by the UK Government's Newton Fund. A CSSP China project has been developing a global dataset of extreme wet bulb temperature (Tw) and air temperature (T) - HadISDH.extremes - that enables us to study the current level of exposure of regions to both high humidity heat events and dry heat events and measure the rate at which such events have increased in severity and frequency over the last 50 years. Wet bulb temperature is a common way of measuring humidity, is less complex than other measures of heat, and provides a critical threshold of 35°C beyond which the human body cannot survive for long. This is because human skin temperature is around 35°C. If the wet bulb temperature and skin temperature are both 35°C, sweating no longer works because the air next to the skin cannot hold any additional water and the body

Our first portable AC unit came today and I set it up and turned it on. The second one is hopefully coming soon. This is going to be the new reality in most of Europe, sadly; we live in Brittany. The heat waves we're seeing now aren't "anomalies" any longer; the future of climate change is here.

This painted terracotta winged horse is an acroterion from an #Etruscan temple at ancient Caere. It once sat on the edge of the eaves above the farthest corner of the temple’s pediment, and once had galloping front legs and an upright red mane, along with a metal bit. 500-475 BCE. 🏺 1/ 📸 me

At the right end of the triangular pediment of a temple, against the background of the final slab covering the lateral beam of the tympanum, the winged horse emerges in clear relief, in the act of taking flight, with its front hooves worked in the round and silhouetted against the sky. A sober polychrome decoration, expertly alternated with unembellished areas, defines the details of the figure and qualifies the surface, decorated with scales. The horse would originally have been harnessed with a bit, possibly made of bronze. The painted details seem to be entirely in burnt red and charcoal grey-black. The wings have red feathers around the shoulder, then alternating long feathers in stripes of black and red. The eyes are red, and the tubular base is painted in a black scale pattern. However, the interior of the flaring nostrils and slightly open mouth seem to be pink. A hole exists in the back of the teeth where a metal bit was once situated (perhaps gilded bronze). The figure falls fully within the Greek iconographic tradition, which already in the Archaic period offered isolated horse heads as a single decorative element in Attic ceramics. For the naturalism and vigour of the sculpture, this Pegasus, influenced by the formal achievements of Greek art in the early fifth century BCE, is among the finest examples of surviving Etruscan coroplastic art, worthy of the good reputation it enjoyed in ancient Italy. More than $3.1 billion this year, and yet again, rich people aren’t fleeing the state. It’s not even a rounding error for these greedy assholes despite their protestations of persecution. And that money helps so many. I hope more states do it. And do it bigger.
