Podcaster, gamebook designer, disappointment. Queer. He/him.

I've started watching Jujutsu Kaisen and it's great but also incredibly dense both in terms of storytelling but also visual design. It's quite hard focusing on the subtitles when every second there's another visual flourish demanding my attention. Style over substance works if your style is A+.

Getting close to the end of Smallville and when it's done husband and I will need another very dumb but consistent show to watch while we gently slide into our dotage. Episodic stuff this all over the place feels like a dying art.

From FB: "Plurabelle Books in Cambridge [UK] (in the industrial estate off Coldham's Lane) has closed down and left masses of unsold stock in a skip and another smaller bin until Monday as a free-for-all."

Joy unbounded from me at church at the discovery that today's reader was a gentleman afflicted with a sarcastic tone of voice. Isaiah hits a little different when it sounds like a Mary Whitehouse sketch.

Dreamed I body swapped with a woman and I was pregnant and went to the doctor and her told me I was just fat even though I could feeling kicking and he was all "food does that sometimes" and told me to go away.

Cronos from Venom gone. While I've switched sides from the diabolism of my youth I still have enormous affection for Venom who were genuinely original in that they couldn't play for shit but in a way that was vastly more artistically interesting than any amount of well honed metal bands.

Friction is underrated for psychological health. Some small stuff needs to be annoying so we can practice resilience for the bigger stuff. And that's why my midweek hangover is good actually. I'm basically doing excellent psychological work on myself by struggling to get out of bed.

I maintain that MJF is a fantastic midcard act. He should be used like Jake Roberts or Kane as a jobber to the stars, running his mouth and dabbling in psychological torture before always losing the blow off match. Not least because his selling is his best in ring work.

Rewatching some later PAC matches and the thing that strikes me as unique about him was the way he was able to use jaw dropping athleticism as a heel. The huge moves didn't read as playing to the crowd, they read as sadism so the crowd popped for the unlucky face taking the move as much as PAC.

This afternoon I properly broke ground on my new gamebook The City By The Sea Where Doomed Gods Still Dwell which is a lot more influenced by Megaman than the title would suggest. So far it is only medium levels of unnecessarily intricate design.

Strange unbidden sense of optimism about the day despite the grey drizzle and having slept like a nervous landmine. Maybe everything is going to be fine? Maybe beauty sleeps in the heart of all things? Maybe the dog won't piss on the floor when I'm not looking?

Absolutely devastated to hear that AEW stand out Pac has died at only 40. In terms of pure athleticism he is in the conversation for greatest high flyer of all time and his character work was also great. An amazing career for a lad from Newcastle ended way too soon. An awful week in wrestling.
