If you watch the Obama Library, the World Cup, and the Knicks parade this afternoon -- and nothing else -- you can actually see the America we're supposed to be at age 250

Springfield (eating the dogs / cats) Ohio desperately needs your help with ICE. Ohio Gov Mike DeWine said it will be “the next Minneapolis” as 15,000 Haitians (1/4th of the entire city) will have their TPS status prematurely revoked Weds Feb 4th. Here are links to donate and volunteer directly: 1/

No, these are very serious comments. ChatGPT has absolutely no goddamn place in graduate education. It steals from other authors, routinely gets major facts wrong, hallucinates sources, and generally makes the prose flat and boring as hell. And if you shill for it in my mentions, I'll block you.

Healthcare is a human right. With the New York Health Act, we’ll end premiums, co-pays, and deductibles — for good. Single-payer healthcare for all New Yorkers. Read more about what I heard at our healthcare town hall last Thursday in our latest substack: open.substack.com/pub/delgadof...

What I Heard in The Bowery

On Thursday, I held a town hall meeting about the New York Health Act. The case for universal coverage has never been clearer.

It’s truly bananas we’re expected to go about our lives eating lunch and putting on pants like the President isn’t a well documented child sex predator who was best friends with the king of child sex predators

Hey so “underage girls” are…children. The word you’re looking for is children. They’re not like, women-in-waiting or women-lite or whatever. They’re children. I think some of you are very uncomfortable with what that means for you but it is still true.

Maybe it’s just the Humanities professor in me, but let it be noted that events of today (ahem) have demonstrated the value of being able to assess a large volume of qualitative data and do careful textual analysis with deep attention to context.

I know many of us are feeling deflated this morning, but I'm going to ask a favor: please follow the link below & sign the petition. It's simple, should take less than a minute, and is in the service of a very good cause, trying to preserve a historic federal building and its New Deal-era murals🙏

The model of holding individual senators responsible is broken here. The retirees clearly agreed to take the fall. Which is why the nos should get no credit for voting no unless they move to oust Schumer

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it. Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.

so currently defectors are: Kaine (2030) Shaheen (Retiring) Hasan (2028) Fetterman (2028) Durbin (Retiring) CCM (2028) Rosen (2030) King (2030)

If Schumer votes AGAINST this but enough Ds vote FOR it that it passes, he needs to RESIGN immediately. He will have shown himself to be absolutely ineffective as a minority leader. He has to go. Literally resign tonight.

Democrats have to stop bailing out Republicans from facing the consequences of their own policies. And yeah, that means they have to stop sparing voters from experiencing what GOP government truly means. Every time Dems step in, it only emboldens the GOP & they make it even worse the next time.

So Democrats get: 1. A CR that will prevent the GOP from facing the wrath of Americans for a shutdown over the holidays 2. A coupon for one (1) meaningless ACA vote that will fail 3. An end to the illegal RIF/SNAP moves that are already before the courts Those all seem like wins for the GOP.

📢With Senate Dems on the brink of caving with no healthcare protection, tag them with jellyfish on socials! Demand: DO not end the shutdown without an ACA win! This is the only leverage you and we have. Please show the strength and spine we are confident you have. Not the fear of a non-vertebrate.

Democrats just swept the off-year elections -- and not just in blue states -- a resounding rejection of Republicans' authoritarian bullshit. It is an insult to Democratic voters, marketplace enrollees, and everyone who turned out on Tuesday for Schumer and Jeffries to cave.

Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.
