The American -> British conversion I struggle most with is blue states/red states, because in the UK, left is Red (Labs) and the right is Blue (Cons) but Dems are blue and Gops are red. Is there some connection? What is the history of this branding?

I read every article in This Week In Rust and I lament how many are now touched by LLMs. Just like coding, I feel like if you're not skilled at writing essays, you miss the breadcrumbs they leave behind and I become immediately suspicious that the author hasn't read it themselves :(
