i’d never grown roselle before, which is in the hibiscus family and reminds me of an okra plant. it’s thrived all summer long with no attention from me whatsoever, and now it’s putting in these lovely blooms. can’t wait to see how it closes out the season.

I'm still really careful in picking my points to cross Boulevard and Moreland, but with the south side beltline finally being connected, I can be so many places within 20-30 minutes that would take maybe 5 minutes less in a car and no need to worry about parking. It's great.

Council Member Liliana Bakhtiari asks how the TAD/NRI legislation can address transit equity. Dickens says transit is important, as is parks, as is affordable housing, as is any number of issues. "What does transit look like?" Dickens asks. "That's something we have to agree on."

Bond asks how much public money would be going to the Stitch. Dickens says $10 million went to the Stitch from the Eastside TAD previously. Bond asks if there are plans for additional monies to go that way. Dickens says he doesn't think so but it would have to go through Council.

Also of value to know how long does the $$$ need to accrue prior to it being able to be spent in and out of TAD geographical boundary. Result is longer timelines to deliver projects in either location.

Bond is concerned that the use of two different maps, one of the NRI neighborhoods and one of the TADs themselves. Bond wants to know if it is possible to have a breakdown of spending by district.

In addition to TADs, the NRI proposal would also create a NRI Trust Fund to allow for spending in areas not within the city's TADs. Invest Atlanta would find projects and bring them to the city council of approval.

The legislation package includes an updated intergovernmental agreement with Invest Atlanta. The proposed agreement is available here:

Invest Atlanta says it will operate on a "proactive quarter base strategy" in partnership with neighborhoods. IA plans to move away from funding one-off projects.

As for his idiotic proposal to supplant mass transit w/ autonomous cars- it’s too brain dead to take seriously, but shows a clear lack of understanding of the scale of transit needed to get people reliably around the city each day w/out exacerbating car traffic
