this year I have read two (2) separate historical fiction novels that take for granted that their characters would find it scandalous or otherwise socially inappropriate for two adult men to share a bed at a boarding house/inn. these books are set in 1828 and 1785 respectively.

can't stop thinking about marvel's midnight imprint brotherhood lineup being 3 siblings plus lorna's boyfriend. this is just a normal 20-somethings living situation in the zillennial housing crisis. magneto pays half their rent and lorna is like "don't tell dad that alex is living here"

i haven't lived in WI since 2021, so I can't speak to how she was as a candidate or what her campaign looked like on the ground, but I wish even ostensibly "leftie" outlets would stop lending credence to the dumb scandal around Francesca Hong's old tweets. she was right about both of these things.

Concerns over fake phenomena cannot be held in good faith. There's no such thing as "good faith" concern over razorblades in Halloween apples or vaccines causing autism. If you still have 'concerns' about these issues you are uninformed, a bigot or being manipulated. No other option.

I work professionally in graduate education (non-academic staff) and I cannot emphasize enough how disastrous this rule change will be for postsecondary education in this country. we are reinforcing the existing barricades against skilled experts that the US desperately needs out of sheer racism.

But didn't you hear? Chatbots that steal actual writers' work only use the same amount of water as huge tracts of farmland. And since obviously we can't assess which one provides more to human wellbeing we can't be against data centers unless we're against farms too.
