If you see me on here it's probably because I'm avoiding homework. But also I like a lot of things and to talk about them.

The annoying thing about staying in a hotel on vacation is seeing all the dads who are on vacation but their wives haven't been able to join them yet because the kids... but live your best vacation life dads.

So we're visiting Santa Fe this week and we visited the Georgia O'Keefe Museum. Now through November 1 this year they have an exhibit called Tewa Nangeh/Tewa Country which shows Native Tewa artists' works in conversation with O'Keefe. It fundamentally shifted something inside me go if you are able.

It's so cute when people think freelancing is just 'being your own boss' and doing whatever when you are in fact a single person running a small business who rarely gets time off, is under constant existential stress, and routinely works 10+-hour days. I worked from 8am to...just now today.

If you're in the Denver area and you're outdoorsy, please consider getting and using a bear bell. There have been multiple sightings of bears EXTREMELY low down (my husband just saw one yesterday when on the peaks to plains trail). The weather this year has made food scarce at higher elevations.

The important thing about traveling at a certain age is to get enough fiber daily. May I recommend doing so in Santa Fe and enjoying the seasoned pintos (with green chiles) and black beans (also with green chiles)?

Optimist: the cup is half full. Pessimist: the cup is half empty. Actor: What's here? a cup, closed in my true love's hand? Poison, I see, hath been his timeless end: O churl! drunk all, and left no friendly drop To help me after? I will kiss thy lips; Haply some poison yet doth hang on them

Watching these documentaries about the worst exes and worst neighbors has shown me beyond any doubt that police officers do not prevent crime. Half the time, they don't even solve it. What other kind of job has such a low success rate but still remains so central to society?

Intercom built the AI disclosure the EU AI Act requires. Then shipped it switched off by default. It's in their own help center, dated June 30, 2026. If you adopted Fin after mid-2025, the label telling your customer they're talking to a machine defaults to hidden. Read more below buff.ly/Z0ht7BJ

This Week In AI Docs: Intercom Built the AI Disclosure Article 50(1) Requires. Then Shipped It Switched Off.

Issue 34 | August 19, 2026 | One vendor made AI disclosure removable. The other made it structural. That single choice decides who knows they are talking to a machine.

I've pretty much stopped applying for something if it's listed on the Workday platform unless it's state/local gov. In case anybody was wondering: the job search still sucks.

Hallmark offering a wide variety of holiday DVD releases featuring 2025, and earlier, titles. Including single discs with "bonus" movies, usually featuring the same star, and 3, 6 and 12-movie "collections" that seem rather randomly assembled. Pre-orders available now, with Oct-Nov release dates.

Another new Hallmark DVD trend, offering "bonus" movies on new release discs, either featuring the same star as main movie or similar theme. Several upcoming releases have these "also includes," often older titles.
