Each new attack on Ukraine is another reason for Europe to tighten the screws on Russia. As a response to the recent series of Russian airstrikes, the EU today adopted new sanctions listings targeting five individuals involved in Russia's military-industrial complex. (1/2)
Tasia Fortune, 29, was found hanging from a tree in the backyard of a vacant home in Jackson on Monday night. Police have not said whether they suspect foul play. Her body has been transported to the Mississippi Medical Examiner for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

My #ScienceUnderSiege (bookshop.org/p/books/scie...) co-author @peterhotezmdphd.bsky.social & I note the disturbing parallels between the attacks on scientists in Stalinist Russia and by Trump and the GOP today:
Q: Do you think the DOJ should prosecute Dr Fauci? TRUMP: Well, they prosecuted Peter Navarro and Steve Bannon -- two very decent people. So maybe they should.
Ken Paxton owns four luxury homes in Utah worth over $2 million. Paxton previously fled to Utah during the deadly 2021 Texas winter storm, as millions of Texans had no access to water or power.
A third straight poll shows us what we already know. No amount of billionaire money can overcome an organized movement of working Mainers fighting for an economy that works for us. Susan Collins should be very concerned.
Sen. WHITEHOUSE: Things even Republicans purported to care about are disasters with Todd Blanche. Pam Bondi put the blame directly on him for the Justice Department’s Epstein Files foul-up. It was deadly serious for the victims. Complete disruption.
One of the most fundamental examples of capitalism is an auction. Crenshaw wants you to believe only Communists care about what something should cost. Meanwhile, every auction participant (Capitalist) throughout history bids on what they believe something should cost.
Stop whining, Bill. 🤡
This is how it’s done. Concede defeat, congratulate the winner, and pledge to work together to advance the interests of the people. 👏👏👏
I encourage all of us to have the grace and focus shown in this going up within minutes of the race being called.

I keep being told that things like "my commitment to Jewish safety is the same commitment that I have to the safety of my own daughters" is what antisemites sound like, and "Jews import immigrants to dilute the white population" is not. But I don't think that's right. If anything, it's backwards.
El-Sayed: "My commitment to Jewish safety is the same commitment that I have to the safety of my own daughters. Because if there is one question of political philosophy that ought to animate us all, it's what would we do if we treated all our kids like they were all of our kids?"
THE $168 BILLION WAS TAKEN ILLEGALLY AND THE GOVERNMENT DIDN’T WANT TO GIVE IT BACK. Kill me I’ve wasted my life.
Bessent: "Here at the Treasury, I had $168 billion of tariff revenues that we're gonna have to refund. So when the Democrats scream, "Oh, the refunds should go back to the American people!', well, the American people had it, it was in the Treasury and it was paying down the debt."
A second man, Edwin Lopez-Cornejo, has died at Delaney Hall, the inhumane ICE detention center run by private prison contractor GEO Group. GEO Group’s profits have soared by over 700% since Trump has been back in office. Imagine profiting from death and suffering. Deplorable.
Roughly a third of the Constitution is just a list of ways you could rein in the president.
Cornyn: "There's nothing we could do to rein in the president"
Whitehouse: "The last Q I'm left with is what's left of this committee? What's left when we don't demand straight answers? How many times has this DOJ been asked what became of the $50k the FBI reported it handed to Homan? ... our Republican colleagues see no evil, hear no evil, and speak no evil"
Whitehouse: "Next we get to this crooked slush fund Trump family tax amnesty scam. We've got these two new pieces of paper. One signed only by Blanche, one not signed by anybody. Neither of which has any legal effect whatsoever. They are decorative. Can you trust Todd Blanche? I do not."
Whitehouse on Blanche and Ghislaine Maxwell: "It was to get exculpatory information about Donald Trump and then reward her ... How often does a prisoner allegedly facing threats or danger get moved to a less secure facility? Think about it. It doesn't pass the test of common sense."
Whitehouse: "Today I think is a sad and embarrassing day for this committee as it looks like on a party-line vote we are going to advance out of this committee probably the most discreditable person ever to seek the office of attorney general. Let's start with the Epstein files ... "
Tillis and Cornyn have caved to Trump’s $100 million IRS immunity, but that’s just one reason to reject him as AG. Here are many more:
Blanche should be blocked for IRS/slush fund AND - targeting Comey, James, Hearn, Powell, Walz, Frey, MOCs - Epstein - payouts to Flynn, Page, Babbitt, Vaughn - rejecting ethics advice to recuse from Trump cases - “war” on judiciary - “cleaning house” of DOJ personnel who worked on Trump cases
This suggests to me that I am right when I say that my fellow Progressives are too reactionary. I support free-trade (with a bunch of regulations to address problems that arise). But I do not do it because Trump opposes it. I do it because it can add real value, despite recent unaddressed problems.
DSA-aligned Democrats are now the most pro-free-trade voting bloc in the United States, in an incredible turn of events www.theargumentmag.com/p/who-suppor...
James Talarico on Texas officially banning THC: “Texans aren’t going to stop smoking weed and eating edibles because politicians in Austin say so. We are now telling full-grown adults how to live their lives. This is the nanny state at its worst; this is big government at its worst."
Most of that money would have been spent on replacements regardless, but this was then charged to Ukr account That is called PDA: Presidential drawdown authority. So the $350 billion is a lie. It was closer to $190 billion. We have been outspent, significantly, by Europe.
BASH: Should David Hearn be eligible for money from the anti-weaponization fund? JIM JORDAN: That'd be up to the board B: What do you think? J: I don't make the decision B: But you have an opinion J: I don't know all the facts B: I want to talk to you again when you get all the facts
The oligarchs-Bezos, Thiel, Zuckerberg and Ricketts-want you to pay more and own less.
Billionaires should be spending less on elections and more in taxes.
“Estonians have been able to pay taxes online since 2000. The United States was just getting there last year with IRS Direct File, a Biden-era pilot program that saved users time and money, but Trump killed it after lobbying by tax-prep and software companies.” www.thebulwark.com/p/trump-is-m...
