I ran a short film screening at the weekend that was so successful we basically had to fumigate the room after everyone left - 70+ gay people?! Coming to see short films?! About sports?! During the day on a Sunday?! Unheard of!
A lot of weird decisions in Spider-Man: Brand New Day but Jon Bernthal effing and jeffing his way through it was one of the weirdest: it took me til 90 minutes in to realise who he was, and longer to realise I didn’t remember the history they kept referencing because we’ve never actually seen it.

Rarely do we imagine a queer reader in the middle of life with a sense of self & community already in motion.

About ten years ago I worked with a woman who told me about a show she was pitching, a sort of Surreal Housewives set on a Manchester council estate. The only detail I remember is that one of the characters was a shapeshifter who could only turn into a remote control. I think about that a lot.

There was a moment during the Silent Hill film that was so overwrought and absurd that I started laughing, then realised @cincodemayomike.bsky.social was laughing, and then realised the whole cinema was laughing - truly dreadful film, but you’ve got to love the movies for bringing people together
