Under Mayor Colau’s leadership, Barcelona tripled its cycling network in eight years, placing 90% of residents within 300 metres of a route. Progress under the current mayor has stalled, but here’s the thing about a cycling revolution: you can slow the infrastructure, but you can’t stop the demand.

And I haven't done the math on it, but well over half of the new Dem House caucus is going to be folks who took office after Trump's first inauguration. The folks whose frame of reference for governance is the pre-Trump status quo are going to be decisively outnumbered, and for the first time.

Waymo wants residents to lobby their cities to help "fast-track" safer roads. This is the company the @washingtonpost.com documented not yielding to pedestrians in marked crosswalks. Let’s focus on what actually works: narrower lanes, shorter crossings, protected bike lanes, lower speeds.

As exciting as the blue wave is, remember that almost none of these campaigns even *mentioned* transportation, nevermind transportation reform. But we have a shot to finally fill progressives' single biggest blind spot — and if we don't want the next infra bill to suck, we have to get to work.

Democrats won big at the ballot box in the midterms. Will they fight for multimodal travelers when they're in office?

It is *insane* that the party that runs on confronting climate change does so little to address its single biggest emitting sector. It is nuts that you can run on affordability and then "compromise" by defunding transit options that would let people survive without cars, their 2nd biggest expense.

Now that we're in Woke 3.0, what's your dream transportation policy or idea? Sure, ban cars, but what would you like to see in your fantasy version of events? There are no wrong answers, only good and absolutely outstanding answers. Go for it.

Is the parking actually full? For how long? Which blocks? At what time? Those questions matter because different problems need different solutions. Good parking management starts with knowing what is actually happening. Measure first. Manage second. Explore PRN’s resources: parkingreform.org

That road cone has begun a katabasis. Its experiences will overturn its deeply held principles (paint as infrastructure, deferred maintenance, 50-50 sidewalk repairs), and the resulting grief and newly broadened imagination will prepare it to transform St. Louis’s urban fabric. At least I hope so.

Had a person threaten to call the cops on me for walking while white in “her neighborhood” so that’s new. She also told me I have an evil look to me. I hope I ruined her day with what I said back. 😘
