God I love VR so much. Despite everything. This is the only thing I can imagine doing with my time. Making things for this.

The deal they offer is "Strap a camera to your head that feeds directly into AI training. In return, you can use the AI output." The whole platform is designed around that, not around user utility.
I’m reminded of what Doug North Cook said for my first podcast. He called all existing headsets cursed objects that have some defining features that essentially curse them even if they give you amazing powers.
Problem 1: The industry isn't trying to sell what customers want. They're trying to push on customers what the industry wants to sell, regardless of utility. To adopt a new platform, there has to be massive benefit, and subscription based LLMs for everything clearly don't drive demand.
Agree with a lot of these thoughts generally.
Problem 2: Use cases. I know a few things I'd like to do with the tech that are just unsupported. Give me lightweight AR glasses, displaying a full HUD on top of the landscape. Give me navigation, give me translation, give me optional good games and art. Give me a headless desktop for work.
Tomorrow morning paid subscribers receive my conversation with @scottstein.bsky.social about the space between pervert glasses and VR experiences. Now is a great time to become a member of the Good VR community.

Deleted Thronefall after completing it. Is there anything similar that can scratch this itch?
I have been obsessing over Thronefall and finally beat the last challenge on the final level to rank #647 on iOS.

We shared some of our reasoning for keeping generative AI out of our creative process with @aftermath.site. Respecting our players' time and attention is at the core of everything we do. If something isn't worth our time to make, it's not worth our players' time to engage with it.

Not gonna have this argument very often but if I’m going to have it it’s going to be with someone who has this much varied experience over decades in the space.

Subreddit at the “a girlfriend might be more affordable than Steam Frame” stage of cope.
Tested publishes a cool video about RoboCop 2 and the comments are immediately a Steam Frame trash fire. My heart goes out to @nchan.bsky.social

Saw this skeet last night before I logged off. This was the second time I heard about the Be My Eyes app, so I downloaded the app and signed up last night and OMG I got my first call tonight!!
Saw an older woman on the bus wearing the Meta Ray-Ban glasses. Asked her if she takes photos. Never, she said. She has vision issues and uses the Be My Eyes feature. She wishes the frames were lighter.
They got $1.5 million for Firmament on Kickstarter in 2019. What are the economics that prevent a bigger goal for a Myst sequel? Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere and I missed it.
Over a year ago, we built a prototype for a new Myst Universe game meant for publisher eyes only. This project is NOT in active development, but we're proud of the work the team did, and wanted to share it with you all. Presenting: Project Anglerfish. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvNGt02yZNc
Yep! Using ALVR on the AVP. Should play well on any PC with an OpenXR compatible headset
Started work on a PCVR port yesterday for a game I’ve been dreaming of playing in VR. Here’s Metal Gear Solid 2 running on an Apple Vision Pro.
